Idea for helping the community to be healthy

I had a new idea today while cycling: what if specialty drink shops or the like sold some sort of fit bit that would determine the amount of steps walked, or cycles a person took. Then they could reward their clients with a free 'upgrade' to their order or the like? I was thinking this would generate enthusiasm for exercising? What do you think? Our bike trails in my hometown have improved and I have noticed many more have begun to bike ride for recreation or exercise. I was thinking of others who have not yet tried it had an incentive maybe this would help the community become more health conscience. Any other ideas along those lines out there?
