We all have drinking buddies, right? If you go into a bar/pub, one of you will order a round for all his friends. If there are four of you, someone else will order the second round, and so on. Now each time you go out, just make sure you're the last to buy the drinks. The guy who doesn't drink much would have dropped out [by the time it gets to your turn] and if you count yourself out and instead buy your two friends their drinks you'll walk home having spent only half of the moolah you could have used that night.
That's a pretty good tip, but going to the bar is a money racket anyway. I used to spend lots of time at bars and clubs but very, very, very rarely go to them anymore. I have found that a good tip is to drink a bit before you go; it's a lot cheaper to drink at home, and you won't spend as much while you're out.
