I once visited a neighbor who grew raspberries in their yard. They looked so good that guests couldn't just help plucking them. How big a yard should one have in order to grow veggies or berries that you can consume and still have some left over to sell at exorbitant prices to neighbors who may not get them fresh in the supermarket?
You can grow a garden in any size yard space and you can grow additional plants in containers. Depending on what you plant, it will depend on the yield and hence whether you will have any leftovers. If you are just growing berries, you can obviously grow enough for consumption but if you want to have enough to sell afterwords it looks like you are looking at alot more space devoted.
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, and my great-grandmother live right across the street from us. She had in her backyard: apple trees, pear trees, strawberries, raspberries, and gooseberries. Of course, she didn't have much of a yard left after all of this, but it was a child's paradise! Her biggest problem was keeping all the neighborhood kids out of her yard. LOL She made and sold fresh produce and jellies all year long. It's not how much space that you have, it's how you plan and lay it all out.
I think if your planning to have some big trees then a bigger land is needed, but with veggies, I think even a small area will do. I have a eggplant, tomatoes and some trees in our backyard. I know that you can also grow a plant in a small pot. Just select what you really wanna plant.
