I was just wondering if people on here had heard of the idea of "in vitro meat". Basically, the idea is that in the future they could grow animal parts in the laboratory (such as livers, kidneys, muscles and so on) for use as food. As a result, we would no longer need to breed animals for food. There is a Wikipedia article here:

Do you think this is a good idea? Would you eat it if it were available? I am vegetarian and I would eat it; however, I would have to know that it is safe to eat, not damaging the environment and know about any other issues it might have. What about you? Do you think it is going to be a solution to feeding a rising population? Or would you find it too strange to eat regardless of safety?

If it's safe, why not? People complain and complain about what's happening to our foods, but they have to keep in mind the amount of people we're trying to keep up with. Until people stop reproducing at such a rapid pace, our foods will become more and more unnatural to be able to feed as many as it does. Although, I think we make more than enough food.. if you took our waste alone, you could feed the starving, so for the most part, priorities are the issue. But I digress lol.

It would be nice if we didn't have to raise animals for slaughter anymore, that is a massive plus for me. I rarely eat meat as it is, so this doesn't really apply to me, but so far I'm thinking it's a good thing... ?
