A problem shared is a problem halved. That is not just an old fable, it is the absolute truth. When you speak out a matter that is bothering you, you give it less power to torment you, it's quite inexpensive I would say, the only effort on your part is to find a true friend who help you along the way.

For me, sleeping is the best way to cope with stress, aside from venting to another person. When I feel stressed I actually just sleep, and when I wake up I feel much better.

I think that it depends upon who you are sharing the problem with. If it is family members, sometimes it just adds more stress to the other person who really cares about you and wants to see you prospering in life. I think that it is a good idea to half or share your problems with a psychiatrist or therapist, because you don't really care what they think. They can be quite expensive though.

Whenever I'm feeling stressed or anxious, I have a set list of things I like to do to calm myself down. I really love taking baths, especially with bath bombs I get from Lush (but I suggest only purchasing them as a treat for yourself, as making Lush products a habit can become a bit pricey). Just laying in the warm water, not having any responsibilities or noise can be very relaxing. Try turning the lights low or lighting a few of your favorite candles. I also love to listen to music when I'm stressed out. I find it to be an awesome distraction that allows me to let me anxieties go and have fun while I dance around my living room! I try to listen to upbeat songs (EDM is my favorite) to put me in a good mood. Lastly, I would recommend giving coloring books a try. I know not everyone is open to using coloring books, but I know quite a few people, including myself, who feel they are very calming. It just allows you to use your hands and focus on something simple, rather than worrying about the complicate things going on in your life. What are some of your favorite things to do to relieve stress?

I am lousy at coping with stress, so I am not sure I am the most indicated person to recommend stuff. However, in my experience, and I do have anxiety disorder, talking to a psychologist is a really good thing. If what's stressing you is a person, it's a good idea to try to relax a little and after you are calm, go talk to them. Never be confrontational and try to explain your side of the story... asking for their help is also great. It makes the person get out from being against you two been on your side.
I was very stressed until a month ago because I was having problems with my boss, and after I set down and talk to to her explained my views and asked for her help, our situation went from a huge storm to clear water. It was the best thing I could have ever done to talk to her and ask for her help.

I would recommend seeing one, if you have the funds for it. It depends on what area in the world you live in. In my part of the world, if you go to the doctor (and it is free to see a doctor) and tell them you are having those issues, they will put you through to a psychiatrist or therapist to where you don't personally have to pay for it.

Personally though, I did not get anything from seeing a psychiatrist. She had no idea what to say. I knew more than she did.

Physical work. Decide on a task, get up, and get busy doing it. Throw yourself into that task. Speak out loud to yourself while you are working. Talk about what you are doing and what you will do next. Get totally absorbed the task. Take the amount of time you need to do a thorough job at it. Very satisfying, very calming.

Whenever possible, when I'm feeling anxious or stressed out, I will go for a walk. Sometimes I'll even go for a walk in the rain. Getting out in the fresh air helps my diaphragmatic breathing kick in, so that my muscles relax, and I feel less tense. Often, when I'm walking, I will distract myself by taking photographs. When I'm ready to come home, I usually have some nice pictures, and occasionally, something else I've picked up along the way, such as flowers, pine cones, or even berries or other fruit I've picked.

I tend to live in my head, and sometimes in doing so, I will build up situations to be more than they actually are. By getting out of my head, whether on a walk or another activity, I will clear my mind, and later realize that things weren't quite as bad as I thought they were, or that I'm strong enough to deal with whatever comes my way. I agree that cleaning can also help. Engaging in some sort of physical activity and seeing a tangible end result can help me feel more in control, therefore decreasing my anxiety.

If ever I am feeling stressed, I simply put some music on my phone through my headphones and go for a walk. You would be surprised at just how effective this is at getting rid of stress, and I always feel a lot better when I get home again. You don't pay anything at all to go for a walk, yet it can have a shockingly good effect on you, which is absolutely fantastic.

Work out is one of them. Dance around all silly like in your living room or go for a walk. It helps release stress. Laugh is another big thing. I know when you are stressed the last thing you want to do is laugh. My grandmother told me that you should fake laugh and you'll start laughing and feeling better because your brain can't tell the difference. It actually works which surprises me. I also play games and paint when I am stressed.

I am guilty of eating not so healthy food when I am stressed. I especially drink soda (Coke) when I am stressed.

The healthy and cheap ways that I did with stress are:

--Meditation. This has helped me tremendously
--Coloring. I buy the cheap coloring books and crayons at the dollar store. I recently discovered that coloring has meditative properties. It definitely helps me to put aside my worries for awhile.

Music, music music. You have to find the right music though. Can't just pick out whatever, gotta be particular about which music you are listening to while you handle your business. If you listen to the wrong stuff, you're gonna find the wrong mood.

In most cases, when I am in stress, I used to listen melodies or watch my favorite videos. Reading books also help you to some extend.

When I'm stressed out, i usually turn to music and play some upbeat songs to get me all amped up and forget about my issues momentarily. I sometimes meditate with audiobooks and read books also. Basically, i do things that requires mental attention to keep my mind away from whatever it is that's stressing me out.

I have some ways I practiced throughout the years to control my stress. Some of them were expensive, like therapy, but I have some that cost nothing, only perseverance. I'll list some.
    1. Exercises. If you don't like to sweat, do something like Yoga. Stretching is really good for stress as tight muscles can help it by building discomfort.
    2. TV Shows. Don't be afraid to entertain yourself. It might feel like you're wasting time but there's nothing better than escape reality sometimes, when real life is too exhausting.
    3. Traveling is a good way to feel like you're "resetting" your life. It can help you think and make better decisions. Stress aggravates when a problem can't be solved, and looking at your life from the outside can be helpful.

Maybe I just do not have any proper very close friends, but what I have noticed that after a while people don't want to listen to your problems any more and they distances themselves from you, because you are like a giant negativity cloud. Talking to specialists help or if you have a close best friend or get along with your family well then that helps.

I enjoy taking walks, yoga, calling family members, reading, tai chi, but most of all, praying. I am not sure why I pray. It is just something I feel a strong need to do every once in a while. It has the effect of unloading all your burdens. It kind of feels like crawling in Daddy's lap, telling him all that is going wrong, and feeling a strange peace about the whole mess after. I am certainly no priest and still on a quest for spiritual answers, so I certainly can't say I am an expert on religion or something. I think the praying thing helps. Sometimes, so does a good hard cry.

I've learnt how to deal with stress a long time ago since it was a main problem for me, and I've found a few ways to cope with it. Some of them happen to be cheap!

    • First of all, exercise. I go to a gym, but you can do it yourself at home following tutorials from youtube without spending a dime.
    • Go running outside, do jogging or even just a long walk. Find a park or a quiet area and spend some time running there listening to your favourite music. It helps a lot.
    • Blow off your steam online. Playing free videogames worked for me.
    • Get some help from your friend. Spending a night out having fun is a great way to send away your stress.
    • Read a lot, or listen to audiobooks or even podcast. You can find a lot of free goodies online, keeping your mind busy.
These methods worked for me, but of course you need to find what's good for yourself. Sometimes running too much can increase your stress for the lack of motivation, or it may end up feeling like a chore, so be careful.
