I have been seeing a lot of people at school, around town etc. with a cracked iphone screen. It makes me very depressed to know that these expensive devices on contract are not very durable. I had an ipod touch 4 I dropped 6 inches off the ground onto my tile floor. The screen shattered in an instant. Luckily, the guy at the Apple store was very generous and helped get it replaced for me. I had only had it for a month. I was shocked at how it broke so easily. I got a replacement case for the new one. It's like a military strength case. I have done all sorts of things to the device and it still looks good as new. It works, but it's sort of a shame because the device is much more sexy without the huge case. Anyone else have a similar issue?
I know tons of people with the cracked screen, it's an incredibly common problem. Luckily, I've never had it happen to me (knock on wood). It's so common of a problem that at malls out here there are usually quite a few stands and stores that specialize in fixing cracked screens (for a ridiculous price, of course). I always use a case, but that doesn't always help with this problem, one of my friends dropped his ipod and the case came off completely and the ipod cracked. It was still usable though, despite the cracked screen, it still detected touch and everything.
Oh yes! Everyone I know has a cracked screen, its ridiculous. I tried to be as careful as I can with mine it didn't do any good I cracked it anyway. I couldn't stand it being crack after a while I got it fixed.
Cracked screens are normal! Even if you aren't clumsy like me you are going to drop your devices at some point. Or a friend or kid will! It breaks my heart that super expensive devices have such weak screens. I love my Mac laptop. But I use a BlackBerry phone because it is more durable. Granted I bought a military strength cover for it and I've broken the cover! But my phone works and my screen is crystal clear.
This is a really common thing nowadays with Apple devices. Though they claim that they use really strong glass for their products that are shatter resistant to a certain extent, we still hear of people having shattered screens with just a single drop and the worse part is that you probably have to pay for repairs since you caused the damage yourself. These devices are really expensive and I also feel that Apple ought to make their products a little more hardy. I bought a case from (*) Speck for my iPhone the moment I got it. Their cases are really hardy and prevents the screen from touching the ground even if you drop it though their prices are a little steep. I guess you should just invest in a proper casing and screen protector if you want to keep your device in good shape!
I think that if your phone or music player has warranty from Apple, then you don't need to worry much. Simply take it there for replace of the screen or their suggested repair. Don't listen to any other suggestion, which isn't from the real manufacturer!
I wish that the iPhone/iPod would have a gorilla glass screen, but that would close the market of cracked screens for Apple. I recently cracked my ipod touch 4g's touchscreen. I stopped by the Apple store and told them what happened and they said it would cost about $100 to fix it. No way was I paying that much to fix the screen, I could find a way to do it on my own. I did some google searching and found that it wasn't a difficult task to accomplish. I went on amazon and found a screen repair kit for about $15 and was able to repair it on my own.Log In I just watched a few youtube videos and was able to fix my screen rather quickly. Hopefully this is able to help you out next time.
