I am running a fanpage contest giveaway on Facebook. All you have to do is 'like' my Facebook fanpage. I hired someone to help me organize my contest on Fiverr b/c I was unaware how easy it was to do myself! Anyways, he did an excellent job, or at least I thought! He told me that 5$ was more than enough to get people interested and to sign up. But only one person has signed up for the contest! My fanpage is REALLY visually enticing, and even has special apps with a Youtube channel and a fangate page. My website (which is what my fanpage promotes) is popular and receives thousands of organic hits every single day! But no one is signing up for the contest. I have promoted it a lot. Am I missing something? Is 5$ a joke to everyone? I know this is a forum about saving money, deals, coupons, etc. I am not looking for webmaster advice. I would like to know if a 5$ Amazon Gift Card is a laughable amount? I mean, I would sign up. I use amazon all the time and would love a 5$ gift card. I don't get it...

I don't get it. $5 for SIGNING UP your site? Am I right?
If the answer is yes, it's a lot.

What is your website niche? is your average reader the sort who would appreciate a $5 gift card. I am a single mum and I would love to get a $5 Gift card but if your audience is the early 20s market, they may not be overly impressed. For what it is worth, I think it is a good idea and I would be frustrated as well. Unfortunately, in this day and age $5 is more valuable to some than others.

Livvi has a good point. Maybe you're marketing toward the wrong audience. You didn't share the link here either, so I can't look at what your page comes off as....maybe it looks like a scam?

A $5.00 contest just for signing up sounds pretty straightforward and I would not sneeze at it, for sure. However, perhaps it is not clearly displayed...or there is perhaps some glitch on the page, preventing people from signing up? Why don't you place a link here, if possible...and we can check it out and give you more valuable input?

Sounds like you are doing everything right? So, perhaps it is glitch on the page?

It all depends on what you're Facebook Page targets! If you are targetting moms who like to save money then yes $5 is probably enough. However, if you are targetting kids or teens then $5 is probably not enough because they're more interested in video games, toys, etc. which tend to be more expensive. Maybe you just aren't getting enough traffic to your page to get those likes? If I were to come across a page that had a contest with a prize of $5 for liking the page I would "like" it.

$5 online for something that easy to do is appealing to me. Some people may just not be interested though; not everyone is into buying things online. How about offering a physical price instead, maybe a little more expensive than $5, but that could make people want it?

I think it might be to do with the amount of cash for the competition. There's literally millions of competitions online for cash prizes, some of them for hundreds of thousands even millions. I wouldn't take it personally and think it's a reflection on how your site or fanpage may look because it isn't.
