You probably have come across such a question in the past. Alot of would support you while others would support gambling and lottery. I think it's a waste of money since it's a game of chance and your chance of winning is one in a million especially in the lottery. It even waste more of your money when you become compulsive. Someone told that it's an investment but I think there are better investments out there.
    What's your view?

I could agree with you totally had I not known few people who always had luck on their side in gambling and practically never lost a bet!

I wish I had such a luck with gambling!

Lottery I still think its a waste of time though I do know of few lucky people who always win atleast one in two rounds!

I don't think it's bad but some people do become addicted and lose everything. One should play once in a while but not all the time. One also shouldn't depend on the lottery for their income. I have won over 100 dollars but those scratchers were only a once in a while thing when I have an extra buck. I don't bother with big jackpots anymore, though. They should exist, though. You never know. It can change your life for the best if you play responsibly.

Me and my husband love to go to the casino...we have an envelope that we stick 20 dollars in either once or twice a month for our fun money, depending on how much bills and paydays are then when we get about 100 each saved up each we make a trip to a casino (about 2-3 hours away, depending on the one). We usually go when we have free meal coupons that we get in the mail from the casino to have some dinner and sometimes even a beautiful discounted room (if we decide to stay the night). We use it as a discounted mini vacation/date night, we only do it every 4-5 months usually. We actually just went last weekend and went in with 200 and came out with 700 so that was fun! We never eat out or spend money on really anything extra so we like to save up a little bit each month to treat ourselves a couple times a year.

Some things like poker machines require skill. On top of that, you need a large bankroll to beat one. Nonetheless, it's still probably a tough thing to win, at least most of the time. Actually, you don't want to win all the time because that raises eyebrows. In that case, you could end up getting beat up in some dark basement. :D

Anyhow, I'd say the best strategy is to win once a year and then come back next year. Plus, the thrill of constantly winning leads to a situation where you lose what you gained. The house already knows that so that's why they let people win sometimes, but then keep them playing with free food and booze etc.

You are right any form of gambling is still a gambling and it is a game of chance. We know there are winners that is very true but one or two probably but not all those who bet would become a winner. The lucky one could benefit what he wins but the rest who haven't would bet again and again. They would be losing more money for trying and trying. Gambling would make everyone's life miserable. I don't like that. That is why I have never ever tried to play in any gambling game.

Gambling is a game where greed prevails. And where there's a lure of easy money, there'll be a fall.

Though it is not fair to abruptly categorize anything as good or bad since many people are actively involved, but taking a leap in the dark is not wise either. It's a rarity when people have self control, and in a speculative game this might invite woes.

There is money in gambling if you're lucky or if you devise a trick or defraud your opponents like in gambling card. but in lottery as it has been said that it is a game of chance. It is a fortune of probability. Imagine how many numbers are there and there frequency of combination is the equivalent of chance a bettor or a gambling may have had. Let's take for example 3 numbers: 1, 2, and 3. With a combination of 3 numbers, the possibility of winning is 123, 132, 213, 231, 312, 321. So there are 6 possibilities to win. You have to be to all 6 number combinations in order to win. How much more if there 4, 5, 6 and so on. Your chance is too far for it has a lot of combination in order to hit the targeted number.

I wonder how somebody can call a lottery as an investment. It's pure gambling. Here in our State there are only Government operated lotteries. In fact it shows the failure of the Government to collect money in this way. In fact most people who become prey to this gambling is from middle class families. I know many people who take tickets daily and even after years of spending money luck does not favor them. Only a handful of people become lucky and get money.

Instead of wasting money on lotteries if they had invested it somewhere that would have been a handsome amount of money by now. Our Government is using a major part of the money for charity but I think that should be provisioned from the tax they collect from us. It's like collecting money from a large number of people and giving it to a few of people. This will only increase the inequality of wealth distribution in the country.

I rarely ever gamble because I love my money too much to chance losing it. Recently I bought 3 scratch tickets just because I had a hankering to get then and spent $9 on 3 of them. I ended up winning $15 and so I profited $6. I cashed then in and did not buy any more, but just appreciated that I came out ahead a little. It was fun. Gambling can ruin people who do not have self control. I have seen people lose almost everything because they could not stay out of the casino.

In my candid opinion lottery or gambling is definitely not the better choice to make. I believe in going about making money gradually not looking to win a chunk of money by gambling all of a sudden. It's too risky staking your hard earn money because of a promise of a high return when you know you could lose your entire money. Lottery and gambling are not a wise approach to making money, the risks you put yourself through to are untold.

I don't see anything wrong with either but I do think once you get addicted it can become a real people. People that bet their whole life savings and other things really shouldn't be doing those things. Personally I think gambling on a game or two once a month is good as long as you don't bet large amounts of money. It can be quite a nice little activity to take part in and can earn you a nice little profit sometimes as well

    Definitely not. ;)

I have some experiences from some friends that have been very bad. I've had the displeasure of seeing many friends worried and with high-debt. It was really bad. :(

I don't like - and I stay as far away as possible - any game that involves betting (especially if it's money).

The bad thing with lottery and gambling is that one could get addicted to them.and even were he keeps losing money to the game finds it impossible to quit. They keep having hope that some day the're going to win a mega bucks. Some have had this hope throughout life and never win anything tangible. Besides it's a cycle if they eventually win some money it most likely go back to the system if they don't stop.
