I am always getting cold callers trying to get me to install solar panels but when I did agree to someone visiting the house he did various measuring and went up in the attic and then I didn't hear from the company again. When I rang them to ask of the outcome they told me my house wasn't facing the right way to get the full benefit of the panels but they hadn't even bothered to let me know. It put me off a bit.

I live in a tropical country so I cannot relate to the heater. But for solar energy, I still would say that it is not yet for it. The battery is the main problem since it cannot store efficiently the gathered energy from the sun. And the main downside is the cost of the system which is expensive and requires maintenance. If talking about the cost, surely the solar power is not viable for now. Pardon me for this post. This is my opinion based on my research and calculations with the existing solar panel in the stores here.
