When buying a new computer that is bundled in a package, it comes complete including the storage which is usually too large for your needs. For a moderate user, a 500 GB of storage is more than enough so you don't buy a computer set with a 1 TB of storage (which is double the space of 500 gb) because you will pay for that extra 500 gb. Better yet, request for a smaller storage so you get a discount in the package price.
Yes, most computers nowadays have high storage capacity, the ones that I have are only 320 and 150 GB ones. They used to be around P20,000+ before, but nowadays you can buy them 2nd hand for P2,000 to P5,000. So I'm sure in time the price of those 500 GB will drop in years.
I would always go for more storage as adding it on cost more and is a hassle. As people store more these days such as HD videos and photos it can eat away at your storage. I used to sell portable hard drives and many people went for 1TB as they ran out of storage much quicker than they thought they would.
I have a 500GB storage hard disk and I've never used all of it, for real. 500GB is more than enough for average activities on your PC. However, if you're into gaming and movie downloading then you definitely should go a little bit beyond when talking about space.
I have never run out of storage on my computer, I use far less than the available storage amount on the computer. This is just one of the things that I like about my computer. Whenever I look at what is available I am using far less than my capacity so, that is something that makes me happy.
Well, storage is not about size. To me its more about management. You could have 3 TBs of storage and yet you may not have any space because you've copied the same stuff twice and have mismanaged that space. Whereas someone with 500GBs could be doing just fine with the same movies or something. I am a little crazy when it comes to storage. I compress files all the time to save space even though i have may TBs of storage.
It is funny we were discussing storage yesterday, because my cellphone has developed a storage problem. There are only 4 or 5 apps on there, but it was saying I was running out of storage, and I even put an SD card in there. I cleaned the cache and started moving things over to the card. This will free up some space, and is certainly better than having to buy a whole new phone!
I have a 750 GB storage and I haven't even used half but I always like to have more than I might need because nobody ever knows the results of their online discoveries. I've gotten enormous files these past few days and I'm glad my storage is fairly large.
