Good to hear it's not just me. I've had 4 chargers for my MacBook. The first three where original Apple ones but this last one I got on eBay and it was just a generic replacement. The generic one has lasted me longer and seems to be better constructed.

So this means the MacBooks are great, but the challenge is just their battery charger wires, if I'm correct. So it seems like these manufacturers tend to sacrifice the quality of one component for the other. HP battery chargers seem to make some sense, but their batteries are almost useless. The MacBooks have awesome batteries, but their chargers lag behind. What a world.

Yes, I really think they are worth the price. I myself was a skeptic before I got this laptop but it has made a believer and a fan out of me. I can still get nearly 2 hours out of it with light usage and before recently I could even finish a whole movie on it with a lot more energy to spare. I haven't tried testing it that way in a while but I'm guessing it can't anymore. The charger is still the original one that came with the laptop, and it still works. I just had to tape over the exposed wires.

Splendid! Thank you very much DrRipley, from what you've said, I sure will get a MacBook for myself anytime soon. I do a lot of Computer Programming, hence I'm ready to sacrifice a little of anything in order to get some good power backup when I'm unplugged from an a.c. source, or even in the face of power outage.

Thank you again DrRipley. Hugs to you.

I think they make the chargers bad quality on purpose, so people will spend money on the replacements. Like I did most people fear that an aftermarket replacement will damage the computer so they buy the expensive Apple cable. But my generic cable while it looks the same the material doesn't have the same texture and it's proving to be more resistant. If they wanted Apple could make a better charger.

Hi mariee, I agree with you that apple has decided to make their chargers bad on purpose, so people can spend money on the replacements. Obviously, this is some kind of business strategy.

From your post, you said your generic cable proves to be more resistant. What did you mean when you used the phrase "proving to be resistant"? Please, can you clarify that?

Thanks again mariee, I really appreciate your taking the time to respond.
