Do you prefer to cook exactly to however much food you need or do you not mind getting leftovers? I cook whatever amount I have, I don't mind leftovers at all, it just means I don't have to cook the next day and some foods are even better the day after, like meatloaf and pizza
I cook slightly more than is needed most of the time. I have a pet who has taken a liking for the food I eat so I cook enough for me and what's left over, the dog can chew to his satisfaction. This does save me a little on dog food but though I hear lots of rumors about the dangers of feeding dogs table scraps, I'll march right on [the path I've chosen].
