When I was little I had dreams that when I walked there was money on the ground with every step I took. Well, those dreams never came true, but occasionally I would find money in the washing machine. What I really would like to invest in though, is a metal detector. Oh things that are waiting to be found... Does anyone have one or knows someone who does? Would it be a good investment say in parks, everyone loses money or something in the park?
Sure, people lose money and jewelry in parks and other public places. Armed with a metal detector you can find the lost items, keep the money or sell the jewelry. But . . . You'd also have to count on luck to find anything valuable.
This is pretty funny. I don't think a metal detector is worth it unless your going to search for things on the beach. A park would be a place that all the money found would be visible. If the metal detector DID find something in a park that you didn't see, it would probably be below dirt or garbage of some sort.
The thing with metal detectors is that they cannot find every item you lose. The caveat here is that they have to be metal in order to be found. How about paper money? I don't think metal detectors would do a fine job of finding them. There are other ways you can find lost items. I don't know whether promoting honesty or a reward system to encourage people to return things they found in random places.
The best thing to do when you want to look for lost money is to always just stare at the ground or sidewalk that you walk on. You'll never know when you might get lucky. The last time I saw money on the ground was when I was in the mall a couple of months ago.
Don't bother looking for money at parks and recreational places, more than likely people don't bring their wallets/purses while being at such places, bums have found lost items, or park administrators have already retrieved missing things from people. It's best to use a metal detector along business places like downtown streets of a city, open stadiums, outside casino and strip club areas, and generally any place where people carry money and visit on a daily basis - tourist areas are especially good. I read a few months ago, some people in New York City scour the sidewalks or fish in the sewers for lost things that accumulate them thousands in a year!
It would be better to find a steady source of income or to make really good investments wherein you wouldn't need to work. The best way of investing is to have people do the work for you, and you're just sitting there with passive income. If you invest in a metal detector, it's much harder work with only possible chances of finding money. I don't know if this thread is a joke, but if it isn't, don't risk buying a metal detector and start investing in real business opportunities.
I live across the street from a beach and often see people out there first thing in the morning with their metal detectors. I have spoken to a few of them and although they have found a few items , they aren't rolling in valuables or money. As a hobby I guess it might be fun but to make money, I doubt it.
No this is not a joke. It is one consideration as a hobby for a very energetic and curious eight year old.
