One of the beautiful parts of owning a well running older car, is that it is probably paid for. And when it is paid for, then in Texas at least, the only thing you have to keep on it is liability insurance. We are safe drivers and we don't even get out that often. So I don't like the idea of a big car insurance bill. We are establishing our records with State Farm, a great company. So in the event that we do some day get a newer car, they will already know about us and that will get us a cheaper rate then. But for now, with our old car we only pay $15.00 a month. I don't think you can get much better than that.

I purchased a used car paid in full and only have liability insurance. It'd be cheaper just buy parts from a junk yard and fix it myself than paying $100 a month for full coverage. I like to stay legal for less.
