Bit of a niche topic, I know, but I'm hoping there'll be someone on here who can help me out with this! I'm looking to get into microscopy as a hobby to share with my kids, and I'm hoping to find one that is both affordable (I'd say roughly £200 is our budget, though I'm not sure how realistic that is) and good quality/easy to use. Ideally it'd have a screen, although this isn't necessary, and a magnification of 1600x or more would be great. I'm a complete novice so any recommendations would be really appreciated.

Since you are posting in "Computers, Electronics & Gadgets", I suppose you are looking for a microscope you can plug into a computer for transferring magnified images. If so, you can find a great collection of USB microscopes at Amazon's dedicated section for them:

You can expect mostly digital magnification in your suggested price range.
