For one afternoon only, senior citizens can get a free mince pie and hot drink at Morrisons cafes on Tuesday 6 December 2016. Between 2.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. senior citizens can receive this free without a purchases. It's a great offer for seniors who do usually buy a drink for teatime, but take ID in case you get asked for it, or tell any seniors you know.
I am not really sure what it is, but for some reason I have just never been able to enjoy a mince meat pie. Now I am not sure if that is what is meant here, or if mince is something far more generic and can mean other types, like maybe some fruit or something. I am curious now.
Mince pies don't contain meat, although a lot of the traditional ones contain alcohol! For Christmas mince pies it is normally a fruit mix, or to quote the label from the well-known Robinsons brand: "Sugar, Apples, Raisins, Sultanas, Candied Mixed Peel (Corn Syrup, Orange Peel, Sugar, Lemon Peel, Citric Acid), Palm Oil, Treacle, Currants, Sunflower Oil, Acetic Acid, Rice Flour, Spices, Citric Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Salt". It is confusing because Robinsons still call it mincemeat, when there isn't any meat in it!
