The most expensive Christmas gift I've ever got was a smartphone that cost about $400. Someone wasn't happy that I wasn't calling them and by buying me the phone I'd have no more excuses for not calling them. Good thing about it all is that some apps I've installed on the phone over the past two years have helped me save a decent amount of money.
Like some of the other posters, the most expensive gift I ever received was a laptop from my father. I really needed a new one because I use it for both school and business purposes, but really couldn't afford a new one. Dad saw the need, shopped around and picked out one for me. Considering he was and still is not computer savvy, he really did a decent job of picking it out and got a decent price. I was proud that he even attempted the task. He's kind of old-fashioned and electronics make him feel out of his element.
