I've made quite a bit of extra money over the years through mystery shopping, and got a lot of free stuff that I still use.
I love to mystery shopping and I use to do it back in the 90's but now I can't because I don't have the funds to buy the stuff before I get paid from them and I plan on doing this again real soon. I love to get out among the crowd to see what people are buying and just have fun with it.
I have never done mystery shopping. I have been mystery shopped though. When I worked in a department store, we had mystery shoppers come in to grade our performance. I never considered doing this as a side income.
I have looked into Mystery Shopping, my concern is often you have to make a purchase which you may get reimbursed and a fee for the payment. It takes 4-6 weeks to get the payment and reimbursement, that is too long for a $10-15 payment in my opinion. I have made a purchase that I would not ever had made and have to while that long to get my money back That is my understanding, I may be wrong.
My sister has done this in the past, but she never mentioned how much she got paid for it or how long it took to get reimbursed. Considering she did it for several years, I'm assuming it was somewhat legit. I guess it really depends on if its worth your time.
I'm kinda hesitant with these kinds of jobs. Maybe it works for the others, but there's always a risk involved in this kind of job. You would spend money buying stuffs or sometimes dining out or trying the food of certain restaurants. Then you would give feedback about it. How sure are you that after you did that, the company would pay you? I've read some reviews online about having such problems. Also, some companies would require you to do the job for a certain time that they told you only. I've read some reviews that most of them didn't get paid because of time discrepancies, acceptable reasons or not, they didn't get paid.
It never occurred to me that you have to pay for the goods up front yourself! Do you get reimbursed for your travel too?
I've never tried mystery shopping. Do you get to keep the products after testing them or something? I've seen a couple of YouTube video's about it. Is it a free job or do you have to pay for certain items to try out?
