I read Dan Brown's the Da Vinci Code and was pretty impressed. "this would be a great movie" I thought to myself. Then came national treasure - a fast pace mystery adventure thriller starring Nicolas Cage. I enjoyed it very much. The stakes were very high for Da Vinci Code to do better. And what did they do? They butchered it. Sigh. Now I wonder if the movie would be a lot better if I haven't read the book first. What do you think?
The plots of the two movies are different, and there's no point in creating to movies that appear like each other. Da Vinci Code is written as a mystery/crime movie, while National Treasure is adventure/action, implying very different movie directions, imagery, acting, and how a script can be shown via a movie platform. Now if you were to compare National Treasure with Indiana Jones, that would make more sense.
