So, I dropped my iPhone in water last week, and after a week in a bag of rice, it still doesn't work. I've come to conclusion that I lost everything and will just have to suck it up and get a new one. :-( So, I want to get a new phone, but I'm wondering what I should do. Through AT&T, I can get a phone just like I had (iPhone 3) for $.99. But I can get an iPhone 4 for like $100. Is it worth paying the extra $99.01 to get the 4 instead of the 3?
Well, since you're mind is set on buying an iOS device, specifically, an iPhone, there are little to no options. If you were after an Android smartphone, you'd face a huge market with a huge selection of phones, with prices varying from 100$ USD for an unlocked phone, to 600$ USD. But I digress. If you're patient, then I'd recommend you wait until the iPhone 5 comes out. The price of the previous generation, in this case, the 4th, will notably decrease. However, if you aren't so patient, then get the iPhone 4. It's significantly better than the iPhone 3.
It depends which one you like better. The phones with the latest capabilities are the ones everyone wants. I'd go for the I phone 4 just because it's more newer and updated. I don't know which one is better in terms of use though. The phones are always going to get newer.
The new iPhone is coming out on September 12, and they discontinued the iPhone 4, so I don't see why you would want to waste $100 on it at this point. AT&T is trying to unload the iPhone 4's right now. Personally I'm not an Apple fan at all, so I would steer you towards an Android phone. I don't personally have the Samsung Galaxy SIII, but a friend of mine does and let me play with it a few times. It definitely lives up to all the hype its been getting in the reviews. It's super light and thin, has a huge screen with great image quality, and is very fast and smooth in operation.
I agree with Ton3h that you should wait until iPhone 5 is out that is if you are fixed on buying Apple products. If I were you I'll consider going Android!
Get the iPhone 4 you'll see the difference in performance although there is hardly any difference between each iPhone that comes out. Each year all Apple seems to do is update the hardware and release their new phone. Don't get me wrong I think their have been quite a few significant advantages in the past few years but it does seem to be more of a money spinner than actual innovation.
