Do you regularly check your privacy settings? Recently I was helping a neighbor and found she was getting scam calls, and they knew her name. I just happened to be there and she handed the phone to me and I got rid of them after I deduced they weren't from the phone company, but were pretending to be.

You can make sure you are ex-directory, and also if you are female and alone, try not to use your full name as you can be targeted. I also recommend not using an email address with an name in it because those get targeted too.

Luckily, over here telemarketers aren't popular, so emails and real personal details aren't of much interest. But for other countries, you know you should be wary of other people trying to steal your info for their personal gain. That's why it's best to stay away from other offers that are too good to be true, online and offline.
