We are to buy an electric fan but it is still on the evaluation stage. We have spotted a 3D electric fan (good brand) that has a tag price of 1,300 pesos. The old Mitsui electric fan (almost generic brand) was for 700 pesos. Clearly the price of the same size of electric fan are poles apart - 700 for Mitsui versus 1,300 for 3D.

However, the 2 Mitsui electric fans we bought some 2 years ago are not operating anymore. The question is this - not good to buy that generic brand since it is easy to break down. But how can we be sure that the 3D brand will last more than 4 years? That 4 years is the equivalent of 2 Mitsui that lasted for 2 years only.

Hmmm... I'm not really sure about the Mitsui or the 3D brands. We personally buy Hanabishi for electric fans. With this brand, I can vouch for its durability and power. We have two Hanabishi electric fans here in our house. Both are standalone electric fan types. What I like the most about them is that the air they give out is very strong.

When it comes to its durability, well it's been with us for about four years now. And so far, it is not showing any signs of giving up. I cannot really remember its price though, but I do know it costs a bit higher than other brands. What we have is the all metal type, it's very heavy but I think that adds to its durability.

I guess the only downside to it is that it easily heats up. Even with just an hour of use, you will feel its "engine" heating up. But we haven't encountered any problem with it despite this issue.

    I hope this helps!

We have had to cycle through many fans and to be completely honest the cheaper brands sometimes last just as long as the more expensive ones so it's hard to tell which will last longer or provide the most value for the least cost, but I think it's much safer to just invest in a better brand when you can. One time we had an electric fan that stopped spontaneously and the motor was still running and eventually I smelled it being burned out. I think more expensive fans might be better since you have a better chance of avoiding this as I feel that was a massive risk to our safety and if no one had spotted it we could have had a bigger expense than just a broken fan in our hands.

We bought some really nice electric fans from Walmart last year. They are 9 inch, all metal, round and sit on a stand. We got 4 and put them all around the house. They really move the air around. And we see a difference on our electric bill. As a matter of fact, it is June 6 and we have yet to need the AC, in Texas mind you! They were inexpensive, around 13.00 ea USD. Brand name, Principal.
