Sugar and a highly processed diet kills more people than almost anything. Each and every one of you should substitute the word sugar for the word drugs in your posts.. or cigarettes or alcohol. I know you'll all say they don't have the same effects, but they all kill and this is what you're debating? Many of you probably can't fathom why people get hooked on this or that.. probably wanted a loved one to quit smoking or gave good reason why it should be banned around buildings or something. Yet you're all hooked on the most accessible "drug" there is and it could kill you faster than a cigarette. The foods most people eat are going to hurt them in the end, but choose them anyway. So listen to yourselves.. substitute sugar for drugs in your posts. Sounds different when you put it that way.. sounds like an addict giving their excuses to stay unhealthy. Makes some of them sound funny too lol...
I used to be a big chocolate and white sugar consumer, but gradually I found myself being sleepy and generally without the will to do anything else rather than sit around and watch TV after eating a lot of sugar. So one day I decided that sugar just wasn't for me anymore. I didn't make a plan not to eat even a grain of sugar anymore, I just wanted to eat less of it. After a few months I completely forgot about sugar and buying anything sweet. A while ago, I started drinking a lot of loose leaf tea and oddly enough I like it even better if it is bitter rather than sweet now. Funny considering I couldn't drink anything that wasn't sweet up until a few months ago.
I have stopped eating sugar 15 years ago, and as a direct consequence of it, I haven't had the need of any kind of dental work in all those years. But not just that, I immediately started feeling a change in my body after I quit the sugar. My energy levels increased a lot. I was able to get through a whole day without having to resort to some sugary snack to pick me up. All that was and still is required, is a short rest of 15-20 minutes every few hours.
I have not been able to quit sugar but I have been able to reduce the amount of sugar I eat. I don't like honey. I recently tried Agave syrup, it was ok but I will not trade my sugar for the syrup. I watch my use of carbs and salt
Agave is worse for you than high fructose corn syrup.. it's a fad because it's yet another "natural" product and everyone thinks they can have beyond sweet without any side effects. Nature isn't THAT sweet lol. There are some things that get pretty close though.
An amazing thing I have found is taking zinc lozenges has cut all my sugar cravings. I have a very bad sweet tooth and find it hard to go a day without something sweet. However, when I take a few zinc lozenges throughout the day, my sugar cravings are completely cut and I don't even want to ingest sugar! I wonder if anyone else would have the same experience, or it is just me.
I could never completely quit sugar. Well to say never would be a lie, I have done it in the past. Quitting sugar can help you lose weight, if you quit flour at the same time. Doing so is what diets like Atkins, and other low-carb fad diets were essentially about. The one problem being it is much more expensive to only eat meat and dairy products, and can also have adverse health effects. As with anything there is always good that you must take with the bad.
