I have never been one for second hand clothing. I would always buy new, but recently I've been finding some great bargains second hand. Things like t-shirts and other cotton clothing I would recommend buying new, but other more durable items such as jeans, leather or winter jackets and even some shoes can be purchased for a fraction of the cost. If the clothing is made well there is no reason it can't last you a lifetime. Anyone else share this opinion, or the opposite?
I have no issue with buying clothes second hand. I grew up going to thrift stores to find stuff there. My feeling has always been these articles were new at one time and if they still look in good shape then I don't see any problem with buying them. I have found some nice looking tops, and sweater tops in thrift stores. I have also found dresses that I buy to cut up to make doll clothes out of because the fabrics are so beautiful but if I bought them online
Buying second-hand clothing is almost as good as buying new clothing for me. The price is cheaper, and there are some vintage clothing you can find at thrift stores. It takes some patience, but you can definitely be satisfied by buying second-hand/used clothing.
Nice idea about the doll clothesLog In! It's good to see that you're thinking about uses other than clothing for used items. I bet it gives you a real feel good feeling to be able to get the most use out of something. I know I get those feelings when I use and re-use things. And it's also good for the environment, means things won't end up in a landfill as quickly. Everyone wins!
I buy almost all of my jeans at second hand stores these days. I often find really good jeans that are like new and, as you said, they are a fraction of the cost so I end up feeling really pleased about the purchase. I buy things other than jeans sometimes; but, overall, more jeans than anything else. The thing is, you just never know when you'll make a great find at secondhand stores. Half the fun is in the looking.
I actually intend to visit one of the thrift stores near my place just to check it out, since I just discovered that there are a lot of them and I never really noticed. I don't want to go there right now though, because I'm trying to save money. Before I discovered those stores, I only purchase my 2nd hand clothes on Ebay.
I have been buying second hand clothes for years and find its not only a great way to save money but there is always a big selection of styles all in one store. Although I'm not one for crowds, the thrift store I frequent has a 50% sale every few months and I generally brave it. I get fantastic bargains.
For me it depends where I'm buying. For instance, I'm not one for charity shops, although I know you can pick up some gems from there. But this is when it comes to clothes, the reason being I hate the smell of mothballs that they all seem to use. Other than that, I will happily buy second clothes from places like Affleck's Palace in Manchester (UK) where you can pick up some real gems. I've bought some fabulous second hand designer gear there in very good shape, and barely worn for a fraction of the RRP.
I don't have any problem when it comes to buying second hand clothes. It's a great way to save money and you only need to be patient before you can find that hidden gem in the store that is worth your time and effort. Recently, I went down to a bargain store. It was really a bargain as the prices were so cheap. The only downfall is there were a lot of people and you really need be very motivated before you can find an item you like. It took me almost 2 hours before I found 2 pieces of a very nice and comfortable shirts at the price way down my budget. It was worth my time afterall and I was so happy with my purchased.
I've always been fine with second-hand clothing. It's kind of the upbringing I had. These days I'm not really near any second-hand shops. But if I was I certainly wouldn't have any issues with doing so.
I have no problem buying second hand clothes, I've found some gems there and most of the items are in really good condition. One thing though is to make sure you've checked the clothing for tears before buying and other faults and to soak the clothes before washing them thoroughly just to be cautious.
Same as you, I also buy second hand clothing because they are cheaper and I can buy a lot for just a few bucks, which is an advantage especially when trying to copy a fashion style of some famous people whose wardrobes are usually expensive. Though I am a patron of these clothing, I choose the best kinds and choose wisely in buying. I look out for damages and also choose a decent store which sells them. There are also rare finds in these shops where the clothing are branded and still in mint condition.
I'm not a second hand clothing enthusiast but I don't mind buying second hand jackets, cardigans, sweaters and skirts. I hardly buy second hand inner wear unless I chance upon one that still looks as if it can still be used over the next decade. I've come across a few in my visits to stores selling second hand clothes. You have to be good at picking in order to not regret your purchases.
Buying second clothes is pretty awesome! Getting like new clothes for much cheaper then what the stores sell them for? Yes please! I personally almost never can shop at thrift stores though, because I'm plus size so I never find anything. It's hard enough finding plus size in normal stores, let alone thrift/second hand stores.
I agree it's really hard to find things in plus sizes, since everything is sorted by similar items, not by size. And there's so much stuff to sort through, it can be a little frustrating. But I look at this as an incentive to lose weight, so I can find things easier at the thrift stores. I really hate missing out on all the great bargains!
I actually find quite a bit of brand new clothing at my local Goodwill because some people get gifts of clothes that they don't like and donate them without wearing them. I don't mind second hand clothes shopping. Some of my best clothes are from Goodwill.
I actually buy second hand clothing. It is quite cheaper than buying the news ones. However I have some set of rules in buying second hand clothing. I make sure that the clothes have no damage. I also make sure that the previous owner have no contagious disease thats why I only buy to my trusted sellers.
I don't really buy second-hand clothing. I actually did buy once but that's very rarely. Anyway, if the quality is nice and the garment is still in good condition, I think there's no reason for me not to purchase it. Plus, it's cheaper too compared to new ones.
The majority of my clothes are second-hand. I just don't have the money to buy new right now. There ae some fantastic bargains to be had though and the clothes at the charity shops I visit are usually in great condition.
Thrift shops seem to have some quality clothes, like pure cottons and wools, that are not easy to find now, since most clothes are synthetics. I look through everything real thoroughly, because I don't like old and dingy. There are usually some nice things in the bunch from someone who had quality clothes and who kept them well.
