Have you ever come up with a really great gift idea? Was it something you just knew the recipient would love? It can be handmade, store bought, or whatever you like. I'm just looking for lots of ideas as we head into the holidays (and of course, there are always birthdays and other occasions as well).

Please share your best gift ideas, costs, and if possible, where you purchased (or can purchase) the item or something similar. I'm always on the look out for great deals too.

I'll start. I put together a cute kitchen decor item for my daughter who moved into her own place a while back and hasn't been able to do much decorating. I got a cute basket, spray painted it, and added covered glass jars that I found at the Dollar Tree, for a cute canister caddy that only ended up costing about 5 bucks (basket for $1.00, spray paint for $1.00 at Walmart, and jars for $1.00 each at the dollar store).

    Share yours. :)

Well, for me, I think my choice would differ depending on the occasion. What you might get someone for Christmas, is not the same thing you will get them during their wedding, birthday or on another special occasion. However, before I share my gift idea, it's always a rule of thumb for me to escort every gift with a card. I just feel that it adds a little touch and assists convey the message much more effectively, especially for shy guys like me:rolleyes:.

To find the best gift idea, I like to grab my friend, and we walk from mall to mall and store to store, looking for various gifts and their prices, way ahead of the occasion in question. We brain storm and when we come up with a particular choice, I go home and start saving for it. Currently, what has pleased me most, was a trophy I bought for a friend letting them know that they are the best in the world. It cost me $7.

I think it depends (a lot) on the type of celebration and the taste of each person (something that can be very tricky sometimes), but I particularly like clothes and craft objects. :D
