I was in the grocery store the other day and saw a product called Smart Candy. I've never seen this before, and I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it's new. Evidently, these are vitamin-infused candies with no high fructose corn syrup. I looked around the web a little bit, and people seem to like this new snack. I'm curious ... what do you think? Will you buy this product for your kids? Will the fact that they're vitamin-infused influence you?
The fact that something is fortified with vitamins will never sway me. After all, Sunny Delight is vitamin-infused but it's still extremely unhealthy. I did check the Smart Candy website out but couldn't seem to find any nutritional information at all. I'd want to know exactly what's in this stuff before deciding whether to buy it or not.
I agree with missbishi. I'd want to know what's in it first and see the exact nutritional information. I've seen too many things with "smart" in the name that aren't smart at all, ha-ha. It might be cool though, if it is actually healthy. I hope I can find more info on it at some point. I'd get some for my grandbaby if it is actually good stuff. Her mama doesn't let her eat junk, but as a grandma, I like being able to give her a treat. A non-junk treat would be good.
This is my first time hearing about this, I'm going to have to do some online research about it and then see if I see any in my local stores. I have a sweet tooth, and don't mind eating candy, so if there is something out there that is good for you, I'm all for trying it, especially since I'm not fond of really dark chocolate, which is supposed to be a guilty pleasure that you can feel good about eating, only to me, most of the time it tastes horrible.

This website is great for this sort of thing. I'll add a link. I apologize if it isn't the right one. This is the only "smartcandy" I could find. Log In
I don't like the idea of consuming artificial vitamins, and neither would I give it to the kids in my family. In the end this new product is probably full of sugar and other artificial ingredients that don't make it sound very inviting. I prefer fresh or dried fruit and nuts instead.
Thanks for the resource, @kana_marie. This will come in handy for a variety of things. I appreciate you listing the nutritional values, but I'll still need to go find more info. If it has no sugar, what kind of substitute is used, etc. It also doesn't list carbs or sodium. I will give this more attention later. I'm interested, but I'll give it some time until I find more information as well as some reviews. Again, thanks for providing the info you did provide. I'll be checking out that link.
I've never heard of it. Somehow I don't think it's going to take off in the sales department. I think people might try it as a novelty at first. Some might even like it, but I'll bet it doesn't last. When people want vitamins they eat nutritious foods and take supplements. When they want candy, they want candy.
I remember seeing some cookies that were supposed to taste really good yet they were supposed to be healthier (I can't remember how they were healthy or in what way). I think they were called WooHoo or WuHU or maybe WhoNu. I always thought about trying them, but they cost about three times as much as other cookies. I kept thinking I'd grab some if they went on sale, but I (obviously) forgot about them. I like the idea of healthier substitutes for treats, but they do need to actually be healthier and it would be better if they could keep the cost down a bit. I don't mind paying a little more for a better product, if it really is better. It's rare that I find something that I consider worth paying three times as much for though.
I remember those cookies - but haven't seen them in awhile. I had a coupon for them, so we tried them. Otherwise, I wouldn't have because they were super-expensive. Anyway, my kids had one each and didn't bother with them afterward. They really had an off-taste. Lesson learned on that one! When I saw the SmartCandy in the store, it was located in the "health food" section. If it's being sweetened by an artificial sweetener, I wouldn't be able to consider that healthy. Knowing this bit of information really makes me want to be more diligent about reading labels.
