What do you think of using solar lamps for outdoor lighting? As long as you get enough sunshine, once you buy the solar lamp [it comes with an LED lamp, solar panels and maybe a battery] you never have to spend any money on electricity for outdoor lighting.

Ever thought of using solar lamps to save some money?

No hesitation for me on this one as - as I've been reaping the benefits of using outdoor solar lighting for well over twelve years now - in fact - although I sometimes use them indoors too - as I live on the side of a mountain in the middle of nowhere - I'd be living in pitch black if weren't for my solar lighting.

Which is why - as I think a lot of people still have misconceptions about outdoor solar lighting - and totally understandable too - as I too would agree that some years ago solar lighting was generally pretty basic, not particularly effective and very definitely far from attractive,
I would just say that - as its come a long, long way in the past five or ten years - so much so - that the new LED solar lighting will work virtually anywhere now and has the added bonus that you are not restricted to white light - as it now comes in any color as well as almost any shape that you desire - if its not something that you already have - its certainly worth checking out.

Especially as - as apart from the standard types of outdoor lighting being much improved - the amount of choice is almost limitless - as not only is it now available in virtually every shape and form - from flowers, butterflies, animals to stars, which can either be stuck in the ground, hung from trees, strung over gazebos or draped over shrubs - but there are also

Ceramic Pots - plain or with a variety of cutouts

Solar - Outdoor Lighting - Ceramic Pots - Stars.

Solar Ornaments of every kind - from frogs to birds and fairy houses

Solar - Outdoor Lighting - Ornaments.

To lanterns - plain to ornate

Solar - Outdoor Lighting - Lanterns.

So as you can see - not only is there now way, way more choice - but also as the new improved LED solar lighting is now extremely effective, efficient and almost as good as mains power - its an excellent alternative if looking to save money on outdoor lighting - especially as - although initially a little costly to buy - the overall savings are really quite significant in the long term.

Yes, I think solar lighting is very effective especially as outdoor lighting and the garden lamps are very attractive to use as solar lights. It is one of the things you can benefit from. It is one of the options that you are looking for. It is usually affordable to buy and effective and efficient as a lighting sort. It is beneficial.

I'm glad to see outdoor solar lighting becoming more available these days, and at a more affordable price as well. It has come a long way in the past 10 or so years. We initially had some outdoor solar lamps around our yard many years ago, but those older models were so dim at night that you could barely see them when they were on - not to mention they didn't hold much power despite being in the sun throughout the day. These newer models on the market seem to perform much better, and they're also a fraction of the cost of what they used to be. I've even seen some of the outdoor lamps selling for only $1 a piece at places like Dollar Tree. Not only are they more convenient, they are also much safer than dealing with candles or plugs.

Solar lamps are cute but pardon me for this remark because we had experienced solar lamps twice. They were actually garden lamps, given to us as gifts. In less than a month, it wouldn't work anymore. The same thing happened with the second solar lamp (also a gift). And althought that was years ago, I don't think they have improved much on the technology yet. Maybe if friends will attest to the practical use of solar lamps then I'm going to buy for our night light.

I'd like to share my experience with solar lighting. To my surprise when my solar lights no longer worked I didn't have a clue as to why so I took them back to the store (Menard's) and the associate educated me with this little bit of information. Recharge the batteries. After that I didn't have any problems. Great post!

The pictures you've posted look so cute especially those small fairy houses. :) I really think solar lighting is a very cost efficient way to save on energy and bills. My husband and I bought a solar lamp for our room last year, which I would recharge under the sun every day. I use it to light our room at night and so far it still works well in giving our room soft lighting.

I love the idea. I just need to find some that are sturdy but don't cost a lot. I've seen some that just look flimsy to me, and I don't want those. Although, I may try out the cheap ones just for the heck of it to see if I like them before investing in some better ones.
Solar lights sound great to me, especially for lighting the path up to the house. It would be nice to have that extra little bit of light (that's always on) when coming home after dark.

I'm glad you created the topic. It's a good reminder. I keep thinking about solar lights but then forgetting to search for some. The ones Gata posted sure are cute.
