    Hi, all -
Are any of your Starbucks Rewards members? They just made changes to their reward system and it started yesterday. I personally have a coffee machine at home and at work, so I don't find myself going to Starbucks too often. But, I do receive gift cards every once in a while. I'm a Starbucks Rewards member because it's free and, hey, you get perks. As long as you don't feel pressured or roped in to spend more time and money in Starbucks, I think it's a great program.

The biggest thing is that things like soy milk and flavors are no longer available for free for Starbucks Rewards members. I think that's a shame, but it's understandable as such ingredients are probably on the more expensive side. You also do not get a free Tall drink order for buying a bag of coffee beans (I was also told that if you bought the Starbucks coffee beans at a super market, you can bring in the empty bag to a Starbucks and still get the reward).

But, all in all, the changes are pretty good. What do you all think? How do you feel about Starbucks, its reward programs, or coffee in general?

I'm a Starbucks Reward member. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I do love their teas especially chai tea. It's also a great place to get away from everything, but I can still work on my laptop. It will be easier to get free drinks now. You only need 12 stars and the rewards show up on your card. There's no need to wait for the postcard in the mail.

How is it possible I missed Starbucks having a rewards program? I get something there every few weeks. They've never mentioned it to me. I usually only go through the drive threw, maybe that's why. Thanks for mentioning it. I'm going to see if I can sign up online.

It's so worth signing up and it's free to boot. You will get a reward just for signing up. Now, it will just show up on your card. There's no need wait for the postcard in the mail. You also get a free reward on your birthday.

A couple of years ago, Starbucks gave everyone $5 on the card. They haven't done since, but I'm still holding out hope that they do it again. ;)

The only "catch" is that you need to use a Starbucks card (like a giftcard) or a smart phone with the Starbucks app (with your personalized barcode). Since I get a lot of giftcards, I just put the balances on one card and use that. I know others who fill up their Starbucks card every time it gets low. You need to use the card to pay for your purchase (even if it's just a portion of the purchase; eg: if your purchase is $10, but you have $5 on your card... you'll still get credit if you pay $5 using the gift card and $5 another way). It's totally free and you get a lot of perks with it, such as free drink or food item every 12 purchases. There are also different "levels," and the higher the level (ie: the more you go to Starbucks), the better the rewards.
