I do not buy generic products. I know that they may be cheaper but the quality of the taste is horrible. I know some people who always take the cheap way out because they do not have the money to get name brand products. When I tried generic foods, I felt disgusted because either it was to salty, the cheese tasted bitter or had a powder taste. The worst store brand product or generic product that I tasted was mac and cheese, I think it was from Save A Lot or Walmart, I am not really sure.
Some store brands are ok. I used to ONLY buy store brands in my younger days because i thought i was saving money. But over the last ten years i've come to appreciate name-brands. Sometimes it is better to pay their prices, as long as it's on sale and you have a coupon, of course! I find that walgreens, walmart and target have great name brands. I also shop at aldi's. I don't know if the brands they sell are 'their brands' but the only thing i have found that i don't like is their sports drink. Other than that, they're great. Dollar general store brands, thumbs down. Dollar store brands, bleh! But these places will also carry name-brand products for less than it would be on sale at some other stores. It's a little hunt & peck, but worth it to get the deal.
I always buy store brands when I can. They are basically the same as brand name products and sometimes cost half the price! I have had instances though when the store brand just doesn't add up and that's ok. From there we purchase the name brand. No biggie! With a family of 6 we need to save where we can and this is a great way to do it! Danyel
It just depends on the product. Sometimes generic brands are identical to the name brand if you read the labels. Other times the generic aren't as good at all. I am more inclined to pay for store brand products for things like toiletries and household items. I am more picky with food, but only certain food products.
I buy alot of store brands and generic brands not only to save money but sometimes it tastes better then brand names. I love saving money though.
That's true, sometimes the store brands are better than brand ones, I have quite a few items that I by far prefer the store brand product. Add to that the fact that it's cheaper and more frequently on sale, and it's a win/win.
