Growing up there was a good selection of cereals available, but we always had certain ones in The House. Whenever I go into the grocery store now, I am overwhelmed by the number of products available. I can't find the basic cereals but can find thirty similar ones all flavoured and sugared.

Chocolate chip cereal - really? This sort of thing might have appealed to me when I was eight, but certainly not as an adult. Many of these items are about as healthy as doughnuts for breakfast. Why is there a market for them? Adults are the ones buying these items, and yes children can beg and cry, but in the end the kids will eat what you bring home.

Let us be adults and buy healthier cereals especially for the kids. Lets return our cereal aisles to cereals rather than candy aisles.

I agree! It is like the candy aisle. In Canada, I have noticed the stores are leaning toward healthier cereals but out-lawing anything with marshmallows or crunch berries! Haha!! But still...Chocolate cheerios!! Come on!

Some of those same adults are the ones who either grew up on eating that same sugary cereal (and therefore, understand why the kids want it), or were "deprived" of it when they were a kid and don't want to keep their own kids from having it. You're right about how many of them are no more healthy than eating doughnuts, though, and often times they're even worse when you consider the milk being added and kids going back for seconds, etc.
