Last summer before school started, I went on the Lenovo site and designed my own ThinkPad. They have an easy step-by-step application to get you through the process, and offer the differences between the choices every step of the way. I am actually typing on this computer right now, and I find that it's the best one that I've ever bought. It rivals a lot of the made to order desktops on the market, and has great support...not that I ever need it. If any of you are thinking of buying one, I would particularly urge you to spend the extra money on the premium wifi adapter. This little upgrade has allowed me to have wifi at comfortable speeds all over my university campus! thoughts?
I am a big fan of ThinkPads. I own two. One of them still has the IBM logo. It's still a solid machine. ThinkPads cost a bit more, but they are far better than the average consumer desktop. They are workhorses and can take a lot of abuse. I will need a new laptop in the near future. It definitely will be a ThinkPad. Thanks for the tip on the premium wifi adapter.
Lenovo is really worth the money. (However, I am not a hardcore Lenovo fan, as I prefer Sony Vaio and Dell) My cousin recently bought Lenovo Thinkpad T420. It came with i5 processor, 4 GB RAM and 500 GB hard-disk space. Only cost around $1,000. The main drawback is that the battery backup was only 3 hrs.
Lenovo's have two negatives or downfalls: the battery life sucks and they tend to run a little hot. Still, Lenovo is my first choice in computers.
I have a Lenovo Ideapad as well as a Lenovo All In One Desktop system, and I've been very pleased with both. I've had them both for about a year now. Their computers are pretty solid. I do also have a Lenovo tablet, and that I kind of wished I would have passed on instead of wasting the money on it, since it's pretty underpowered. But overall I've been very pleased with their computers and customer support.
