I am a guy, so I really don't get how women can wear thongs. I mean, it simply doesn't seem comfortable to wear something like that. Is it something people get used to and don't even notice it or is it a sacrifice in name of fashion?

Thongs are neither fashionable nor comfortable. I don't really understand how some people can manage to wear it. I also don't find it nice under clothes, especially if the pants or skirt are somewhat thin and you can see through it. In general, I think it's not a very decent piece of clothing and there are other ways to make underwear more discreet, if that's the purpose of wearing a thong.

That's pretty much how I see it too wander, but at the same time we see a lot of women that wear them. So I'd like to know why, as for me they don't seem comfortable at all. More, how can they be fashionable if they are underwear?

Uuugh, I hate thongs! They are so uncomfortable and can be so expensive! The only point of thongs is to look "sexy" to a sexual partner and that's pretty much it. I know some girls where them because "Then there's no panty lines under your skirt!" but seriously, how tight of a skirt are you even wearing for someone to be able to see the line of your panties?! It's just silly. Disclaimer though, no shame to those who wear them. I just think they're a little nutty to wear something so uncomfortable.

I'm a woman and I CAN'T STAND THOSE THINGS! I never really got the point, its like having a wedgie 24/7. My youngest aunt wears them and I just don't get how she does it, I wouldn't be able to handle it. The same thing goes for G-Strings, which is really just a thinner thong. If your not a stripper, a hooker, or an escort; you shouldn't be wearing these.

I bought a few to see if I could tolerate them. They were a waste of money. I didn't last 24 hours. It was so uncomfortable. I think that some women just get used to wearing them. I don't want to put myself through all that. I'm okay with panty lines.

To be honest I don't think thongs are comfortable at all. I actually use a variation of a regular thong and panties, it's called the cheeky panties from Victoria's Secret... They are very flattering and comfortable but they are still as sexy as a thong can be. I really recommend girls try them out and see how they like those, especially if you're not a fan of thongs.

The woman response is strong in this topic. But I have to agree, I asked my girlfriend a while back what's up with thongs and she said it's mostly used for appearing sexy. It's kinda hard to be comfortable in them and it really feels like they have a wedgie all time. Interesting answer.

Pretty much tournique, the same happened with my wife, she wore them to look better, but I don't need that, so she actually stopped wearing them, they are uncomfortable of course!

Thongs first started showing up in stores when I was a teenager in the 1990s.
I bought three pairs to try them out, and then quickly went back to regular underwear.
Not only are they not comfortable ,but when you bend over in certain pants, your thong strap shows, which is called a whale tail.

It depends on the thong, if you ask me. I wear thongs as a way to hide panty-lines, but I can only wear them every week or so. Wearing thongs daily would kill me! There are thongs that are pretty comfortable, but the ones that are nothing but a string up your butt cheeks are literally a pain in the arse, lol!
I mostly wear thongs when I'm wearing leggings, or when I'm just feeling cutesy, but never for comfort. So all in all, thongs for me are definitely for fashion.

Yeah :) that is true, somewhat strange to see a woman showing her whale tail, especially in the summer we see a lot of those. I guess only younger women wear thongs because they think it's more sexy.

I had to think for a moment about what kind of thongs you are talking about. Where I am from there is a type of sandal that's called thong. I believe in other countries they are referred to as flip flops.
But obviously you are referring to underwear here. I don't really like the look of them, neither do I want to think about what it must feel like having a string (excuse me for this) stuck in my bottom all day.

I spend way too much time trying to keep my panties where they belong to ever consider buying something designed to go where they don't.
It's comfort all the way for me.

I actually prefer them! I'm really skinny with no butt at all so I find that regular panties are far too baggy at the back. They end up disappearing IYKWIM! I never wear them with skirts though, the UK can get quite windy so it's best to err on the side of caution!

I have never tried wearing thong. Just by looking at it, I know that I would not feel comfortable with it. I can't imagine wearing it and maybe there's a tendency that I will never learn how to walk properly if I wear it, lol.

I wore thongs in the past and they are not comfortable. The only reason I would wear them is because either it was sexy or it worked with what I was wearing on top. Now I would never wear them if I don't have to.

I also don't wear them because it's like having a permanent wedgie. I think it's just one of those undies designed to make you look more attractive to the opposite sex, and to make you feel more sexy and seductive, like the push-up bra.

Lool, not that could be a title of a book! :D I am a comfort person myself as well, so I review me in this perspective you have. @missbishi@missbishi, never considered that, so it ends up being comfortable for you right?

I have no idea what you said here. I'm thinking you agree, though, that there is no way a thong can be comfortable--unless, like missbishi, you have nothing for it to wedge into.
