Which do you prefer - a thrift store or consignment shop?

I have patronized both of these retail types. My preference is the latter (consignment shop). Why? They tend to have higher quality clothes that are still current. Sometimes, what thrift shops offer to the public is just trash.

I think you are right on both accounts. But I still prefer thrift stores. Thrift stores tend to be cheaper. And if I'm going to spend money on used clothes, I want to know I'm saving big time. At the same time, I find consignment store shopping best when I'm buying specific vintage clothes and/or accessories. I used to be in love with this one store in Five Points in Atlanta. They had the most adorable swing dresses, clutch purses, and tiny caps. Even though, I never bought it, their jewelry was heavenly too. I love vintage fashion.

I also prefer consignment shops because brand new will always be better than 2nd hand clothing. But I also don't mind buying from thrift shops as long as the item still looks good as new.
