True, I agree with you.. but this little honey gets that beast "sweet tooth" of mine raging for more sweet stuff and I have to struggle with it. I really have to exercise my self-control to stop with one helping .. :/ I hate to say that but that is the truth.
I can't think of a single thing I consume every day, healthy or unhealthy. Probably the most unhealthy thing that I love to eat is french fries. I could eat them all day every day as well as just about anything else made from potatoes. Maddie, I got myself out of the candy habit by eating dried fruit. Maybe you could try doing that also.
Chanell, I do not eat candy .. I have switched to dried fruits.. but even those could be harmful if eaten in excess.. I keep chewing on dates and those are loaded with sugar. When I had stopped sugar in my food I had no issues.. but after the holiday season.. i have been struggling with this craving for sweet stuff. I am having a hard time bring things back to sugarlessly bleak days
I have always had a hard time with eliminating my chips! I love chips, sometimes I feel like I am addicted. I don't buy them as much, because I am trying to lose weight and do better for myself however, when I do get them it is hard for me to just have a handful. I would rather eliminate them and some sweets altogether but it is hard. I have winged myself off of cold drinks and juice. So when I have them they are so strong, I have never defaulted on wanting to have them back in my home, and using Water has eliminated on a lot of juice cost. I told my husband we should purchase a certain amount of things each month, and when they run out, we no longer by them until the next month. He agreed so it is nice trying to see what will happen.
For me the only thing would be cheese. It's not disasterously bad but it is high in saturated fat. I try not to eat too much of it but I do tend to eat not only the slice I take but also add some to various other things. On the plus side it does have plenty of protein and calcium (amongst other things) so I suppose it is not completely bad. "Junk food" generally does not appeal to me. I have tried various bits and pieces from McDonald's and so on when I am out with friends. I always find that it is tasteless and greasy. Other than the fat and salt content, it has nothing to offer at all. At least fresh tomatoes (for example) have a flavour of their own. Everything from fast food chains tastes roughly the same.
I just mostly try and avoid really sugary and processed foods. Keep it as natural and fresh as possible and you shouldn't run into too many issues. I don't really eat anything that is unhealthy at this point. I just make sure I watch my portion sizes when I'm eating the foods I really enjoy like organic peanut or almond butter, since the calorie content is quite high.
Although I tried to eliminate all the bad food that I have, I still have candy and chocolate every now and then. I just can't help myself because I have the biggest sweet tooth and satisfying it is not the easiest thing to do. I do however eat chocolate and everything else in moderation so I think it isn't too bad for my health.
I used to eat donuts like everyday. I often found myself slugging and lazy so I stopped eating them. I also cut down on fast food, I know they are not healthy and I don't want to suffer for my health in the future. I needed to make that decision to stop.
I am a huge coffee drinker. I have gotten out of the habit of drinking it with sugar. But I still love the flavored creamers. I even add powdered hot chocolate to my coffee sometimes. I really started drinking coffee when I went back into the work force. I became a single mom and I had to take care of the kids then head off to work. I used loads of caffeine to keep me going. I have cut back since then. But I still drink to much of it. And now I have discovered capuchinnos too. I have been trying to replace my night time coffee drinking with a cup of hot chocolate. But it is not to bad because I use chocolate soy milk and just half a packet of hot chocolate.
The most unhealthy thing I eat on a daily basis would probably be fruit juice. They do not sound that unhealthy (which is why I started drinking them a lot in the first place!) but they have a lot of sugar in them. It turns out they are actually pretty bad for your teeth for that reason. In addition, they are not hugely nutritious: they basically just provide a lot of energy (in the form of sugar) and not much else. Although they might have some vitamins, minerals and possibly fibre, they are not hugely better than a soft drink apparently. As a result, I am switching over to drinking mostly just plain water.
Mine is my sweet coffee too lol. I don't worry about the coffee itself, but I need the sugar in it or I won't like the taste of it. I'm still on the search for a coffee I wont' need to sweeten in order to enjoy it.
Carbs are not evil. Only bleached carbs are evil. Whole grains are okay. Maybe switch to whole wheat pasta?
I still eat some sort of processed meat and preserved food a few times a week, and I've been meaning to cut that out of my diet but it just isn't possible with my schedule right now. I'd like to learn more about it so I can plan my weekly intake a lot more though. After I finish with my projects, I'll surely cut out on the instant and fast food.
I have a big sweet tooth as well, but mine is used to fruit now when I'm craving. I used to eat a lot of chocolate and whenever I got the craving after I stopped eating garbage, I'd eat a piece of fruit and the craving would pass. Sweet tooths like natural sugars too lol. I ate sooooo much fruit when I was getting over junk, but it finally passed and I'm never craving non-foods anymore. Don't deprive yourself when you crave.. just substitute for natural sugars from real food
