Sorry Walmart, but I have to go with Target on this one. I will grant that Walmart has way more bargains, but it is not worth the slight but noticeable drop in quality in Walmart products compared to Target products. This plus the ever frequent sales, bargains, and coupon opportunities bring Target's prices down and make Target the winner in my book.

For me it's Target. Walmart is always so packed and people are crazy there. Every time I go to Walmart it's hard enough to get a parking spot. I would rather pay l little more and shop at Target.

I answered this question the other day and I'm probably still inclined to say Walmart partly because that's what I'm use. But I've moved to a new state and I have to say that I recently stepped into a Target and was surprised to see that they had groceries as well with a good selection and with decent prices. I was surprised because usually to get a whole grocery section not just a little section in the back the sign outside would have to say "SuperTarget" (or something like that) and it didn't. But in anycase, I may start shopping more at Target!

I try to stick with Target to avoid some of the creatures that inhabit walmart. Of course there are times where a trip to walmart is unavoidable due to lower prices or Target simply not carrying a certain item and that is very unfortunate but you just have to deal with it.

I've always found it a little weird that this seems like an endless debate, to me it's no contest- Target is worth paying just a bit extra for. Not having to deal with as many crazy people ;) parking lot headaches, etc. I think Target tends to be better laid out and cleaner. They don't always have as much in the way of deals, but they do tend to have most of what I need and more that I actually want.

Target hands down. I live near both a super Target and a Super Walmart. While the prices allot of times might be a little better at Walmart I can usually get coupons for Target and I use my Target credit card so the prices work out to be about the same, maybe even a little better at Target.

I honestly hate both stores. But I shop at Walmart for most things. I find that Target is actually more expensive than Walmart. Maybe it is not that way everywhere, but here it is true. Target is a lot nicer though and many times I like their clothes a lot more. But grocery wise I'd rather spend less money getting what I need. I found I can do that at Walmart. I spend nearly double trying to get the same thing at Target. Which is ridiculous in my opinion.

For me it's Target hands down! Although Walmart has better deals, the one in my area is just too big and way too disorganized. Its too crowded and there's just stuff all over the place. Also, when it comes to quality, he stuff form Walmart doesn't last as long or stay looking as good, obviously I'm talking about stuff that is from the Walmart brand, the normal branded stuff is fine. Target, on the other hand, is a lot neater and less chaotic, I prefer shopping there and avoid Walmart unless I can't help it.

I perfer Target. Walmart is always so full and around here they tore down my childhood Walmart *Sniff*, my mom used to take me there every weekend for as long as I can remember. I hated seeing it destroyed. Anyhow, they built a new Walmart that has a smaller parking lot and is just smaller all around, yet they decided to make half of it a grocery area, so it feels extremely crammed. I can barely walk in there without being pushed or shoved aside by someone. I do not do well under those conditions as I will push back. I am Momma Bear when my kids are around. Target is the complete opposite. It's 2 floors and it's a very calm atmosphere. They have a very, very short line wait, which at Walmart, is the opposite as their lines can take up to an hour to get out of. It's just a better experience all around. Their prices are similar to Walmarts, maybe not the clothes, though. They have deals on toys, which I love because I don't want to buy my kids expensive toys they'll be done with in less than a month. For me and my family, Target is the place to be! :)

You're not really saving money by shopping at Wal-Mart. In the long run, their bottom of the barrel wages cause a significant amount of their employees to rely on government assistance to make ends meet - which is your tax dollars. They're essentially making you pick up the tab for their employees instead of paying them fair wages, so they can pocket more money.

I much prefer Target, and to be honest, they often have great prices as well. Their end caps are notorious for steep markdowns on items, and in their furniture and decor section, you can get some great steals on end of season merchandise. In some cases, I've even found items that were cheaper at Target than they were at Wal-Mart, such as this certain type of Nivea Mens Body Wash, which is only $3 at Target - and that's their regular price for it, it's not even a sale price. It's like $5-$6 at Walmart last time I checked. Plus if you coupon a bit, you can get even steeper discounts there. They were running some promotion recently for example, where two liters of pop were like 70% off, and another deal where you can essentially get 6 containers of Tide oxi cleaner for free after all the manufacturer and store rebates and discounts.

That's true I guess but every year you get your taxes back. I'm not sure why I don't really like Target. It's just that somehow they feel like a somewhat empty store.

It makes me feel better to shop at Target for some reason. Their stores seem a little bit cleaner and more friendly. Maybe its just the stigma I have placed on them in my mind, but I feel guilty walking into WalMart; perhaps for the ohiotom76 wrote:

That said, I am in both stores equally. We were in fact just in WalMart today, which is why I can vividly recall the guilty feeling of being there.

Target is okay when they have markdowns on items but they are a little pricey.I will say that Target is more quieter and nicer store. But I prefer Walmart much better they have a better selection and better sales and items that I like.

The Targets around my area have a very bad smell whenever you enter them for some particular reason and this is why I try not to go to Target, and it can be more expensive. I chose Walmart because whenever I am in need for cheap household items or I am going grocery shopping I go to Walmart. The feeling I have in Target is indescribable and it can be empty and can be weird and my friend was telling me how it can be scary because there is mimal employees doing their job, I love Walmart because whenever I go there they are always friendly and I do not notice anything dirty about Walmart when I go there. I would only go to Target if Walmart did not have the item I was looking for.

Walmart has the cheapest products compared to Target's ones, but also Walmart is kind of infamous for their customers which obliviously wander in that store, and it makes the overall aspect and credibility of the store rather appaling, indeed. Target seems to have select customers, but, honestly, I wouldn't spend few extra bucks just to see better clients surrounding me, it would be more of a caprice than anything pragmatically-thought.

I live in Canada. I am 41 years old and I have never been in a Target store in my life...until most recently. They installed one in my local mall and I actually avoided it for the first 6 months it was there. I finally decided to peek around one day when I had some free time and I thought it was alright and comparable to Walmart, now that you bring it up here. I was with my son, and we laughed all the way home because we bought milk from there, something we usually get from the grocery store and not from the mall. He kept calling it Target milk. So I guess you could say that I had a pretty good experience there on my first trip. I plan on going back and will probably go there more often than to the Walmart, which is further.

As to which is better, I have to say Walmart still. Probably because I am more familiar with it and therefore more comfortable shopping there. This opinion may change over time as I get used to the new Target store.

I pretty much go to whichever is closer, though I have a slight preference for Walmart because most Walmarts are larger/have more sales. In terms of atmosphere I prefer Target's because there are usually less people and I like the color red more than blue. So if Target and Walmart is the exact distance from me, I'd choose Walmart (cost>comfort).

    Both at times

I normally shop at Walmart, but when it comes to clearance on clothes, I choose Target. It just seems as if they have the best mark downs and they know how to get rid of the items on clearance; making them so cheap to buy.
At walmart I buy my everyday items around the house.

I prefer Walmart for stuff like cleaning supplies, day to day products and stuff like that. I actually really like their brand Great Value for simple grocery items. For beauty stuff, refrigerated foods, tech stuff, appliances and home supplies I much prefer Target

I regularly shop at both. Every week I take a little time to see what's on sale at each store and decide what to buy where.
They are two brands that garner much loyalty for me so I go to whichever one has the best deals.
I'm lucky that my closest Target is pretty close to a Walmart so I sometimes even go to both on the same shopping trip.
