I usually like shopping at the super-center Walmart in our area it's convenient to be able to pick up groceries and other household items in the same place. But I notice from time to time the sales item rings up higher once you head to the check out. Then it's a production having someone go to the shelves to check out the sale price once I bring it up. I've noticed that has happened alot, lately and it's really annoying. Has anyone had that issue?

I haven't had it happen, at least not that I am aware of. I will have to start keeping a closer eye out for this. I can only imagine how bad it would be to hold up the checkout line at our local Walmart. Sometimes the lines are so long, it can take almost a half an hour just to get to the conveyor belt to unload the shopping cart for the cashier to start ringing it up!
Thanks for mentioning this problem. I'll be watching...

I've noticed this happening in supermarkets in the UK but I always thought it was some kind of administration issue or else a mis-communication between the staff. I think it has to do with updating the items which are no longer on sale into the system and getting things done properly and up to date in a timely manner.

I believe that as a customer, you have every right to complain if this happens several times in a row as the it is your right to be entitled to correct information and if an item is on sale but then shows up at a different price at the checkout counter, then we as customers have the right to complain.

I've had this happen at many places, and honestly it's just a lack of organization or miscommunication. The best way to check on things is to use the scanners they have around a store (most stores have gotten to this point). Otherwise you can talk to the cashier at the register.

This has never happened to me because most of the places I shop at has that price check machine right before you check out. Therefore I try to use it every time so that I never have a surprise when I have to pay.

OP, it's weird that your Walmart doesn't have those price check scanners throughout the store. I always check my items at the scanner, even if I think that I know the price.
I don't like surprises at checkout so I scan everything in my cart with those price checkers.

That's true, but it doesn't really address the question that the original poster asked about items ringing up incorrectly.

I regret shopping at Walmart these days, and would rather do business with places such as Costco since they pay their workers much more fair wages. Unfortunately I moved last year and don't currently live near a Costco, so I've had to shop at Walmart in the meantime.

I got paranoid just like my parents, so i always write down the price of everything that i am buying, so that if something is off, i go back and make sure it's my mistake and not theirs. This already happened twice where i payed more than the price that it was on the shelf, so you guys need to be careful about that.

I have definitely had this happen, and I don't shop at Walmart very much. I feel like the store is very disorganized and the lines are always terrible. I do most of my shopping at Target and it happens there a lot too. Although I have noticed it is worse at the one that is in the town I used to live in than the one that is close to me now. So clearly it's not a company-wide issue. Each individual store is responsible for their signs and prices. At the other Target it would happen nearly every time I shopped there that something I was buying was marked one price on the shelf and then would ring up differently at the register.

The only time I've really had a problem with things ringing up correctly is with bakery reductions.
The day old baked goods that are marked down have two price tags, the original one and the reduced one.
Sometimes the cashier scans the regular price tag, not the yellow reduced price tag.
So you have to watch that at checkout.

Apart from that, the price scanners in the store usually catch inconsistencies before they happen.

That happens in several supermarkets with me. It happened once in Walmart, but not more than in other places. What I like in Walmart in the US is the Grocery Delivery. If you can't go to the supermarket is such a nice alternative, cause you can pick everything online on the website, pay and have it delivered on the next day. Sometimes even on the same day. Safeway has this too, and I had deliveries from them also. But both products and the delivery fee were more expensive.
Anyways as far as Walmart goes, I don't have any specific complains about it. I know many people hate it, though.

This exact scenario happened to me just yesterday, as a matter of fact. I bagged a bunch of Gala apples in the produce department. The tag clearly stated .88 per pound, which is a great deal. At the register, the apples rang in at $1.59 per pound, so the CSR had to head over to produce to double-check. This happened in the afternoon on a Sunday when they have all the newbies or kids at the registers. If I'd been there on a weekday morning, one of the regular register employees would have just overrode the pound price.

Be careful at the register and watch the prices as items are rung up. Tell the register person not to begin until you're done unloading your cart, so you can keep an eye on the tally. You'd be surprised how often the overcharges happen.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. I'm not a big fan of Wal-Mart at all. Mostly because of the awful customer service they have in most instances. That being said, I've never had a problem where they've rang my items up at a higher price. I'm sure that would be beyond annoying and a real hassle. As far as I know, this is not a common problem though.
