I notice that certain holidays have their own special items that go on sale. Thanksgiving I see broth, cranberry jelled and often stuffing mixes go on sale before or just after the holiday. I stock up on these sale items for use later. I also notice that on some holidays, drinks...whether six pack or litres go on sale. Do you notice the holiday sales and take advantage of stocking up?
Definitely. We were eating hams for weeks after Easter this past year. Pretty much all of our local grocery stores had some great deals on hams just after the holiday. Whole hams are so versatile too, you can use them for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a variety of ways. I grilled slices of it to go on my breakfast sandwiches, added it to batches of bean soup, and even diced it up to put in baked rigatoni casseroles. Canned items are even better since they will last year round.
I usually stock up on items that won't got to waste in a few weeks. If I see some chips that are on a massive sale - I quickly grab them - because I know that a lot of items get their price tags juiced up. For example, last year - I've bought six bottles of coca cola, when they were 45% off. And a week later - they've literally increased in price by like... 20% or so? Usually items drop prices, usually. I guess they only drop the prices down for things you don't actually need all that much...
I always take advantage of these holiday deals because they offer such good prices that I can never say no. For example just a few days after Halloween I tend to buy a few bags of family sized candy so that I can give some as treats for my relatives when Christmas rolls around. Its a great way to save money on the simpler things that you always give away.
I love the holiday sales and when I see something like food items or anything else go on sale that I can use even after holidays I always stock up and I usually take advantage of the after holiday sales as well
I do love the holiday sales. I tend to stock up on broths and canned goods. Also, I love to stock up on baking products. They usually go on sale at holiday times. Things like sugar, flour, pecans, walnuts, and baking soda lower their prices.
I usually do majority of my own shopping for my personal items around Christmas season because that's when most stores offer significantly discounted prices for a long period of time. This way, I can just buy small items that I come across the rest of the year instead of having to stock up on wardrobe and accessories when everything is at full retail price.
I try to pick up a few things during the holiday sales to use later during the year or as gifts when the time comes. I will be getting some of the candy and hot chocolate that will be on sale after Halloween to have during the Christmas holidays. When I see cake mixes on sale I always get a few to have so that when I feel like making cookies or muffins the mix is in the house and ready to be used.
