I have a Galaxy Note 2. It's not waterproof. But I still bought it. I don't go out of my way to search for mobile devices that are shockproof, waterproof, and any other kind of proof there is. I expect these smartphones to be delicate so I mainly look at the specs like the screen resolution and the processor and the camera. But there are also phones that are waterproof like one offering of Sony. Does being waterproof appeal to you and compel you to purchase a mobile phone?

Being waterproof is not one of the top qualities that I look for in a phone. If the phone that I want is not waterproof I still get it and just buy a good casing and a screep protector. A casing and protector don't make your phone water proof in the sense that you can't dunk it in water but they do protect you phone from things like wet surfaces or splashing.

I would question how waterproof they really are, it could just be a marketing gimmick. Who would actually risk soaking their own phone to make sure it really works? They already proved that that waterproof spray they are selling on TV is fake and doesn't work.

How often are people really dropping their phone in water to begin with?

Being waterproof holds no appeal for me. Although I know accidents can happen to anyone, I just don't use my phone all that much that I think it would be necessary. I'm never talking on my cell phone while washing dishes or taking a bath or jumping through puddles. I just don't see how my phone could end up in the water. I keep it in my purse so unless my purse ends up submerged I don't see my phone getting wet.

Its actually the feature that Id like to have for any gadgets since I am currently living in a very rainy and wet place and I hate carrying umbrellas when I go out :)

Any gadget should be waterproofed but thats another additional expense for any gadget.

I won't mind buying a waterproof phone, but it's really not one of the things that I look for when buying a phone. I mainly look at the phone's features and specs, being waterproof is an ok feature to have, but not really a must for me.

For all the years i have had a phone, i have still to drop it inside of water, or even get splashed for that matter. I am not that careless with the things that i buy.

If I actually liked using them, it would definitely appeal to me. It seemed when I actually liked my phone (a blackberry), I was constantly dropping it in toilets and sinks lol. I'm so beyond accident prone.

I don't know if I'd buy a phone just for the waterproof factor, which is really kind of stupid of me considering that my last phone was broken when I was giving my fiance a foot massage, and it fell into a bucket of water! We tried the rice thing, but it never quite went back to normal. I think that it's definitely worth it to buy a waterproof phone, but it wouldn't be the main factor in me buying one.

That wouldn't be my only consideration, but it isn't a bad idea. I mean honestly all gadgets should be waterproof to some degree. Life is both unpredictable and given toward water (yes even in the desert).

A waterproof device would be a nice to have feature when one is a mom like me. Although I agree with lindberg that the device being electronic I of course treat it with the care it needs when one has a two year old about the house unexpected spills tend to happen. If a company sells a device that is waterproof it might cost a lot more than I am willing to pay. If they can make the cost reasonable though like around $20 more than the regular I'd buy it.

I expect the smartphone to work if I drop it accidentally, but that is about it. In the use I make I have no problems protecting the device to places that are unhealthy for electronics, so I see no need for it. Now if it the feature is free or almost free I will take it, don't get me wrong. But I will not pay a lot of extra money. So yes, the Galaxy Note 2 is fine. It has very good features and is totally safe for use in reasonable conditions. Unless you go mountain climbing, scuba diving or whatever and nedd your phone with you, you made a great choice.
