On the other hand if you had let the kids have a TV in the living room they might still be in the living room and not their bedrooms. If you let your kids watch TV in your home at all, you might do better to have them do it under your supervision. TV watched in isolation is far more likely to get through bad messages then if you watch programs with them or at least are in the same room. TV is also far safer for kids than the internet because the programs on it have to follow broadcasting standards. The internet is unregulated and rife with real video of violence, explicit pornography, inaccurate and unsafe advice, and the potential for direct contact with all kinds of nefarious people.
Well if they are going to use their money then you can only try to talk them out of it, but if they won't budge then there is nothing that you can do. TV's are a good thing to have especially if you have a cable subscription. I say if they want to have tv then let them experience having one.
@Gold Coin Well it seems like you have already made up your mind about the tv so save the money for something the kids need. Save money by investing in stock. Set up college funds for the teens that you can't touch.
These days many streaming box are more cheap. So you can easily connect those with TV and save money. Satellite channels are lot more expensive. Also the amount of money being spent on satellite channels takes up a lot of wallet holes. So it'd be safe to say that instead of going for the satellite channels, one should choose to go with the internet based Netflix. I have found that Netflix and Amazon prime video as an alternative to this. I'd suggest checking out those options in that case.
Well I guess the good news is that they are pretty cheap these days, considering how much better they are then they used to be not even that long ago. A lot to choose from too, so I say maybe if it is something that is affordable.
Well, in your case I think it would be best for you to get cable TV. Sure, you can watch movies and television online but there might be days where you just want to lounge on the couch and relax that day away watching television. Plus, there is the chance that your internet might go down for a while on certain days.
It is really your choice if you want to buy a television or not, besides television there is the internet as you said.and there are tons of shows on different websites and apps that you can use with a computer or mobile device. On a side note, technology has made it possible for televisions, particularly flat screen tv's to have Wireless internet and Apps. With these new added features, the flat screen basically functions as a computer, so there are advantages on either choice. The flat screen is more costly but you have great value for your money, if you plan to have a computer, it is cheaper but you also have to take into account the cost of speed of the internet that you want and the service provided.
To be honest, no matter on how much I would need to save I could not give up on my TV. This depends on you, if you want to buy it or not. But if you buy a TV., you can save money by making your own AC, or make handmade things to not buy from deco shops. There are many ways in which you can save money, you can even build a fountain and stop paying for water, you can use more common transportation than your car.
