We are invited to several weddings this year. My mother had a friend who came in from India with some beautiful clothes that she bought for me. I want to wear them to the weddings. What do you think? Is it tacky to dress in 'costume' at weddings that aren't traditionally Indian? There will be other ethnic guests present so it might not be totally out of the norm to wear something diverse. But I do not want to make a spectacle of myself and detract from the wedding party. What is the normal standard for wedding apparel for guests? I know in olden times it wasn't appropriate to wear white.

I guess you can wear anything if you are not part of the ceremonies or just a guest. When I attend weddings, I just wear simple dresses. Anyway, I can't really say yes or no to the Indian dress because I haven't seen it in person. Perhaps, if you will show a picture here, that will help. :)
