I know many of you will say that this is a very old computer and I shouldn't waste any money in upgrading it! I however request you to hold that thought a bit and just advise me. I'm planning to hold on to this computer for some time to come:D The following are the current specs

    RAM: 512MB

    Processor: 2.8GHz

    Hard Disk: 40GB

How further can I upgrade this comp.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The Hard Disk can be upgraded to the highest storage you can afford (as long as it is an HDD, as the Dell Optiplex GX270 is an older model and may not support SSDs). The RAM can be upgraded to up to 4 GB, so that would be 1 GB per slot of the four slots the Motherboard has. I don't know about the processor, as it may be attached to the motherboard (Dell usually does that on its PCs), so I don't know if you can replace that.
