I recently bought a 128 GB Solid State Drive from Samsung. It's a fast SSD and allows me to boot up my computer within a few seconds in most cases. SSDs are still a little expensive, but they're very useful for decreasing boot times and giving you quicker access to your programs. Unfortunately, they do have a limited lifespan with regards to writing to the drive. However, that's why you need to put things like your OS or most frequently used programs on the drive. Have you tried out an SSD yet? Many laptops are coming with these drives built in.
SSDs are way too expensive for me to get into. Also they offer too little space to do much. I admit that the speed is very quick as I've seen one in action before. Maybe someday when the price is right, I'll get one for my computer.
