I love cheese, and am sure to eat some every day. I guess that would be my answer - I wouldn't be too upset to have to give up most anything, but I would not be happy if I had to give up cheese.
Maybe water? It's the most basic food item I can think of. And it's really hard for me to eat without anything to slide it down with.
That's so funny. I was going to say cheese too. I probably COULD live without it, but I'd be very unhappy.
Bread. Freshly baked, warm bread. It's probably the only food I can eat every day. I get bored with all the rest.
I love cheese as well, but I really couldn't live without pasta. I eat it at least two or three times a week, and my menu would be pretty dull without it. Of course, I'd need onions, garlic, mushrooms, tomatoes and yes, cheese, to go with it, so I suppose there are quite a few basic food items I couldn't do without.
I remember visiting a country in Asia and finding it quite a challenge to find proper cheese. This is when I discovered that I would pay a lot of money for good cheese. And the reward is cheese (not processed cheese, must be good cheese). (-:
It is difficult to narrow it down to just one item. I would really miss onions, tomatoes, and chocolate. Water, as another person said, would be the one thing we literally couldn't live without. So maybe we should start taking better care of our water!
I couldn't live without bananas. I love bananas and try to eat at least two or three everyday. Plus, I don't think I could live with pasta and bread.
It is hard for me to pick just one item. I love variety and love so many foods that I can't decide! I know one thing I couldn't do without would be garlic.
I couldn't live without milk. I don't drink milk often enough on its own but I use it for smoothies, coffee, cereal and about a million other things.
I couldn't live without coffee, if you want to call that a food. For some reason, I'll get sick of eating all different types of food but every morning I have to have that cup of coffee. If you want an actual food item, I wouldn't want to live without fresh vegetables, they are so healthy and versatile. You could use spaghetti squash as "pasta", eggplant as "meat", and of course tomatoes as sauce!
Pasta! Yes, you could use spaghetti squash, but it really, really doesn't taste the same. I've had to live without cheese for a fair while and it wasn't pleasant, but I lived. I'm not sure I could go without my carbs, especially pasta, though.
Life is better with cheese indeed! I wouldn't know the word delicious without it! It's my favorite food in the world! I can't imagine spaghetti without cheese!!
Milk. I tend to drink a lot of milk usually through eating cereal and such, but as a basic food item that has to be it. A life without milk would be a poor life, indeed. There is obviously water, but that's more of a living necessity type requirement.
Basic food item - my answer would be cheese since most of them are made of milk, salt, and cream. So that's all the basic stuff I like.
I couldn't give up bread or coffee. I'm a caffeine addict and not only I love the taste of coffee ,but I'm chemically dependent on the energy lift that I get from coffee. As for bread, I just think bread is comforting, a warm roof over your stomach in times of economic cold.
Cheese! For sure. It's just one of those things that makes everything taste better. Although I would probably also go for good old bread and butter. This is far more substantial and would probably last longer if I had to ration it. Cheese comes in so many varieties so I don't know if all types count in this theoretical question or whether you could only pick one type? Same goes for bread, I guess..
Interesting, probably a tie between canned tomatoes and cheese. I use both so often in whatever it is I'm cooking, and I mainly cook italian food. Couldn't live without either.
I happen to love seafood, particularly my favorite is shrimp, and salmon, could not live without them. However, I do think that out of the two the salmon is more a healthier choice in contrast to the shrimp. I know the salmon is a more heart-healthy type of fish and has omega-3, which is not only good for the heart, and your health in general, but has been known to lower your cholesterol levels.
