I used to collect comic books, but eventually I stopped buying them because it just didn't seem practical anymore because their value will presumably never really rise ever since comic book collection got very mainstream. I did manage to get a good amount in storage, though, and I have to admit that it's pretty fun to look at, at the very least, and I do still read them from time to time but not really as often as I'd want to because I still would like to keep them as mint condition as possible. I'm sure I'll be looking at them with a lot more fondness when I'm much older, and as for now, I'm choosing to keep them safe in storage. How about you guys, do you collect anything? If so, for what reason? Is it for investment purposes or just purely entertainment and fulfillment?
What a good question. Yes, I have been collecting beach glass for many years now. I have quite a lot of it that I use in mosaic work. I just love the frosty, sugary look of a piece of glass that has been tossed around the ocean for many years. I often go down to the beach really early in the morning and see what the tide has brought in. A friend of mine had a little bookstore, specialising in comic books. His shop always had customers. I think you are sitting on a real little treasure there, not necessarily a financial one, but one that warms the heart. Whether they are in mint condition or not, enjoy them whenever you can. And let others enjoy them, too.
I collect anime DVDs and video games so that I can enjoy them and be entertained. Recently one of my box sets got damaged when I was moving, and I have to keep telling myself not to worry about the scratched up metal box because I just have them to watch, not sell. But I'm a little OCD, so it drives me a little crazy to see the damage.
I collect coins. I buy them from different merchants and I keep them. They are part of our history and culture and they have a very big value to me.
I collect souvenirs from the places I visit. Small maps, ceramic statues, charm bracelets, things to remind me of that place You can imagine my girlfriend has an impressive collection of jewels handmade by local communities, they are cheap and extremely attractive, since they can`t be easily found on local market
I collect money that is owed to me Haha!! Seriously, I collect Thai Elephant sculptures. They are absolutely beautiful, but a little difficult to find. I usually find them at second hand stores in surprisingly good condition.
I collect glass bottles, leaded glass decanters, wine bottles, I get them from second hand stores, some of the decanters cost over $100 new. I have been collecting them for years and have a good size collection now. When my girls were younger we use to collect comic books, I wish we had saved them because now they could be worth a little money.
I collect books and keychains that friends who were able to travel abroad have given me. I don't have a deep-seated reason for choosing to collect these things. I keep books simply because I'm a voracious reader and love to read all kinds of stories. My love for literature has given birth to a whole shelf of books. The keychains came one after the other without me knowing it.
