With a laptop you have to be careful, the can get very hot and overheat easily and it will shut itself down whether you're doing something important or not so watch out for that. A repair shop should do a good job at helping out with the overheating problem, I normally put a frozen bag of whatever under the computer until it freezes, which usually does the job quite well.
