When it comes to food, I hate to spend money. Even so, I splurge on certain foods, like seafood and bacon. These are two items I don't want to purchase at a discount because they carry so much bacteria and could make me or my family sick. (I see bacon on sale at Safeway all of the time. It always is discolored making me opt for a fresh pack.)
I don't know how to cook, and I still live with my parents, so I usually splurge on burgers and pizza. When I'm out, that's what I usually eat, and even when I want to have food delivered to my home, that's what I also order.
I like to splurge on snacks like potato chips and biscuits and crackers. I think other food items are easy to manage even if you buy cheap brands because you are going to cook them off anyway, but when it comes to snack foods like these, they are usually the final product and you are often left either liking them or wanting to throw them away with not much other options left. I also agree with splurging on bacon, though, I've bought some cheap brands of those and they always have something off about them.
I love sweets so when I'm dieting, I eat all kinds of cookies, cakes, cupcakes, etc. They are bad for me but taste so good!!
I always splurge on seafood. There is a huge difference between fresh and frozen seafood, and I don't ever mind spending extra for quality seafood. I am from South Florida, so I was raised on fresh seafood all around me. It has to be the one thing that I will always spend extra on for higher quality.
I have been very good at buying food on a budget lately. Ever since I got a dog, feeding him quality food has become a priority, which means my budget is tighter! That being said there is one thing I occasionally splurge on: fish! More specifically salmon. Salmon is the one fish I pay more for because it's easy and fast to prepare. I will buy it in slices so it's easier to prepare when I get home from work at night. I love preparing it with Gorgonzola (which is also a splurge!)
