Mine just broke down, and I had to buy a new one.

Apparently there are ones made of coper, that don't gather residues inside. But those are way more expensive...
They don't need to be clean once every two years.
That's what happened to mine. Was leaking because of residues...
Also, I really need to learn plumbing 101.

What kind of equipment do you have at home?

We have the type of water heater that is a 40 gallon tank. It attaches to a wall unit that gives it power to heat up. It gets paid off by our electric and water bill which are the same company. For two people, a 40 gallon tank is fine but we also use it for our kitchen and the washing machine so it runs out fast if you are trying to use all those things at once. We have had to have repairs on previous tanks and also have had to have some replaced. Its not made of copper and has a little rust on it. If it broke I think I would seriously consider getting a new one because we recently had one of the wall units melt on the inside and it makes me think the equipment is old. It came with the house we are currently renting. I hope that helps.
