I've been looking for a protein drink to have after workouts and occasionally as a meal replacement. I've tried some generic brands that I didn't really enjoy. However, there are a million different brands of drink to choose from and it's not like they are cheap to where I can buy several different brands to find one I like.

What are a few drinks you might recommend?

I am in the same boat as you on this one, as I have never found a brand that I am particularly fond of. As far as the cost is concerned, I think of protein powder as a replacement for a serving of meat. If you consider it that way, it isn't all that expensive.

When it comes to looking for protein powder I look for the quantities of the 8 (or 9) essential amino acids. Amino acids like leucine or phenylalanine are essential because out bodies cant make them. Others like tyrosine can be made by our bodies and we don't need to get them in a powder.

You will get a better bang for your buck if you learn what the essential ones are so that you can buy a brand high in those and not filled with other amino acids. Protein powders such as whey powder are usually cheaper but are not high in the pieces we need.
