I used to love shopping at consignment stores, but because of the recent bedbug epidemic, I have become pretty phobic and have stopped shopping for secondhand items. You can't be too careful!
I don't think there's a store where I wouldn't shop. Not unless the store had horrible customer service, I'll give any store a chance to earn my money. There are a few stores that don't fit into my budget, but that's only a temporary setback.
I shop at any store, but the one I really do not shop at that often is Target. I find the items they have are of poor quality, but have a price tag that should belong in a mall with good quality products.
I wouldn't shop in stores that have poor customer service and bad odour. I love shopping at Cash Crusaders and Melts, although I know a lot of people would not, mostly for the reason that the clothes in those stores are rejected branded stuff
I tend to avoid shops where the sales assistants don't know the meaning of 'I'm just browsing' and insist on following you around and showing you items of clothing which they think will suit you. It's very irritating!
I'm in the same boat. I wouldn't shop anywhere that is absolutely astronomically expensive! If I pass by Holt Renfrew I'll just walk by and shake my head. Meanwhile, a block down there is a Winners that will have the exact same shirt that Holt Renfrew sells for 70 percent of the price. I don't understand why someone would pay that much money for anything.
I agree with the majority here I do not like shopping for used clothes. I use to buy them but now I think that I can still get a good deal on very inexpensive clothes if I shop online. I know a lot of thrift stores are very popular. I guess it can depend on which one's you go to but I have never been a fan of buying used clothes. I am just afraid of what could be in the clothes. If you wash or dry clean them really well it should be okay but I am just not too keen on the idea.
I wouldn't shop at Hollister because I feel like they are pretentious hipster douches for keeping the stores dark and spraying Hollister cologne on the clothes. The t shirts are also ridiculously thin and overpriced.
I don't think I would go to a very expensive store to shop because I am a saver rather than a spender. I go to stores that are reasonable with their prices. And there are sales that may be good enough for me to go to the more expensive stores perhaps but then I would say I can find an item that looks just as good in a cheaper store because after all I am only going to wear it for a few times anyway.
I would never shop at stores that are overly priced. I am very frugal so I always look for a bargain. Today, I passed a store in New York City named Barney's and the prices were astronomical. I would never shop at a store like that because its too expensive and I could always find comparable items for a lot less.
First of all I am not trying to tear at any stores, or anything like that, I am just giving my opinion. Second of all, I am high into fashion, so I don't care if I have to spend a little extra cash to get cuter clothes. I also wouldn't spend to much money. I have my limits. I am very picky with my clothing so there is many places I wouldn't shop at and for many reasons. So for me personally I wouldn't shop at Victoria's Secret. I don't mind spending a little extra cash, but 100$ for one undergarment. I am sorry but that is to expensive. Especially when I could walk down the hallway at the mall and get ten times as many things at the Deb, Aero, or a couple other places. I also wouldn't shop at fairs (if they count), Discovery (I don't know about other locations if there is any but I prefer to try on my clothes before I buy them, and they do not have a dressing room, so I stopped going there after I bought my last pair of jeans, and they were way to small), Burlington Coat Factory (I will buy clothes just not undergarments, they get ruined very easily).
I see nothing wrong either, shopping at thrift stores. It's about the selections and you can wash them. Besides, don't you try on clothes? You can pick up as much on clothes that have been tried on, as thrift stores. If it's the wear factor, clothes that look worn, again it's about selection.
The more frugal I become the less inclined I am to shop at stores I used to. For example, Urban Outfitters and Aritzia. I still love the way the clothing looks but it is way too expensive. Stores like Forever 21 and H&M have similar clothing for a fraction of the price. It just doesn't see worth it anymore.
I wouldn't shop for clothing at Marshall's, because none of the clothing there is my taste and some of the clothes are either small or too big, I love the store Topshop, but because of the expensive prices I don't see myself ever shopping there, which is a shame because their clothing suits my style perfectly.
Lol I think it is funny that people say they won't shop at a used/thrift store. You do realize that you should wash all your clothes before wearing anyway, even if they are new. Most new clothes have probably been tried on by a number of people . It is probably a bit different since used clothes could have been worn by someone a few times and washed a few times.. but as long as it still looks like it is in good condition and you wash it before wearing I see no reason why it is such a big deal. And if you supposedly can't get the "smell" out of it then I think you may want to try some better detergent! LOL, just kidding. But getting back on topic, I probably wouldn't shop at a very high end boutique that I can't afford or at a store such as Deb that sells very cheap teen clothes. It's not my style and the quality is awful. I also no longer shop at Hollister. The clothes used to be cute but for the very thin quality, not worth it. I have had clothes fall apart in the wash from there!
I would never shop at Nordstrom's or major department stores. I feel like they overcharge way too much. I like specialty stores for plus size girls like myself and discount stores. You can still get the look for less.
I would never shop at Payless Shoe Source. There is nothing that looks worse and hurts more than a cheap shoe. I'd rather go to Marshall's to get high-quality shoes for a cheaper price. I surprised to see so many people say they'd never shop at the thrift store. If you shop at ones in nice neighborhoods you can find quality pieces that certainly don't spell like body odor. I bought a great authentic Vera Wang sweater and lots of other goodies that I would have never purchased at full price. The best part is the clothes hadn't even been worn much.
I don't have any problem buying used clothes nor buying stuff at thrift stores. I wash the clothes with hot water so I can say that they are clean enough before I wear them. I wouldn't buy high end designer clothes or shoes. I just don't see the need to spend hundreds or thousands of money for something when I have a family to feed.
I never do shopping at most expensive sites. Today we have numerous options for shopping and if we search more we find the great deals on most of all products. So I like to shop from those shops where I found great deals and where I could save my lots of money. There are some familiar sites from where I would always love to shop.
An example of a store that I would never shop at would have to be Hot topic. The reason for this is because I have the complete opposite taste that this store offers. I am a girls girl /casual classic type person so therefore a shirt that has cut outs as well as spikes and studs is something that I cannot imagine having in my collection.
