For the summer months, I could go without gas. I could easily cook only using electric and having hot water isn't a requirement. It wouldn't be possible for me in the winter though because I have small kids and it gets pretty cold. Otherwise, I already go without a traditional phone service. We don't have landlines and only have a pre-paid cell for emergencies. With the internet it makes it easy to stay in touch with people, and we use Skype and Google Voice for calls. The worst utility for me to lose would have to be electricity especially right now in the summer; it's the only way to stay reasonably cool.
